the LSU D has collapsed the whole last part of the season. WHAT HAPPENED? ? ?

LSU's defense currently getting shown-up by god damn Northwestern's at the half. Let that sink in.

 

Our defense was certainly our weakest link from the Alabama through the Arkansas game.

Last night was the perfect storm. Our offense sucked like it did against AU, Florida, and A & M. And our defense sucked like it has been sucking since we pissed away a glorious game against Alabama.

 

I just checked that out after I swore I wouldn't watch anymore football this season. I see that MSU's "all-world" QB has less than 100 yards for the game early in the 4th quarter, and he put up 300+ on us. We're not worse than Northwestern, are we?

 

Right. Our pass D didn't go from good to average. No, we went from good to horrid seemingly overnight. Reminds me a bit of the '07 defense.

 

That's a good comparison, actually. Our '07 defense was pathetic down the stretch, but they did rally for the BCSNCG. But, then again, there was a lot more to play for.

 

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say we pissed it away getting conservative in the last drive? Other than that our defense held the likely National Champion to their lowest scoring game.

 

It was certainly the last drive that cooked our goose that night.

 

Agreed. Other than last year when we won at Alabama in OT, it seems when we lose to Alabama (especially since Saban took over), the rest of the season becomes a tough slog that we limp through. The Alabama game really seems to take the starch out of LSU, players and coaches.

 

MSU just lost to NW, 34-20. Tyler Russell's stats: 12-29, 113 yards, 2 TD, 4 INTs. Yes, I know we beat MSU 37-17, but Russell gashed our D. I truly can't believe that NW has a better D than LSU.

 

In the Bama game, our final drive, we got way too conservative and it cost us. In the Clemson game, way too aggressive and it cost us, some will say fans will never be pleased, you ask for the guy to be more aggressive and when he is and fails he is an idiot. Here is my thing, it's about recognition. In the Bama game, Mett could have taken a dime off the top of a backboard without touching either, he was on fire, coaches didn't recognize what the world did, the get conservative we lose. Yesterday Mett struggles, he is getting beat up, and they put the game on his back with 3 straight pass plays. You have to be able to recognize situational play calls that will be the most effective based on what's been happening in the game you are in, and our staff sucks at that with the game on the line.
