There is a BREC park in Baton Rouge off of Blue Bonnet called the Blue bonnet swamp. My kids like to go there and hike the trails because they see different animals, and big snails, and those black grasshoppers. Near the parking lot there is a pond and my kids like the pond because there are several differnt species of turtles. Mostly red ear, but there are some cooters, yellow bellies, chicken turtls, and painted turtles as well. One day my son spotted a watersnake in some brush, and as I went over to check it out I saw another one that he had missed. As I kept looking I saw more and more watersnakes. In total we counted nine in a 15 square foot patch of brush, The smaller ones had a lot of contrast betweent their browns, but the bigger onestended to be much darker all over, but you could still make out the different bands upon close inspection.
