Lee was a human torturer, a traitor to his country, and not very good at generalling, either. The ONLY reason to memorialize him in New Orleans was as a statement that the Confederate cause was just. It wasn't. It was New Orleans's moral duty to clean its sin.
War is hell,.. Union Generals were no better. Sweeping history under a rug is not going to right a single wrong
Why are you on the left if you think this is ridiculous? This what the dems and the left does. It also shuts down free speech why cant you see this?
Don't label me,.. every issue should be considered independently, a person doesn't have to be right or left, red or blue,.. I tend to be purple.
Examples please....he never starved anyone to the point of resorting to cannabalism, as Grant did to the entire city of Vicksburg You have a point. Using the same logic, can we exile every California resident who wants to secede in the here and now? Pretty much every military historian in the history of America, especially the ones who have actually served in the military, would laugh in your face at that statement.
Oh really? Military historians beg to differ: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-very-good-at-his-job/?utm_term=.1c437a75d841 And, by the way, it doesn't take a military genius to recognize that Lee's incursion into Maryland and Pennsylvania was BONEHEADED. The net result of his stupid move, aside from the enormous casualties he took, was to resolve the determination of Northerners to win.
