From what I remember it sure looked like a pass to me. I don't care how they score it but I was glad for him.
Oh I know where you're coming from. I didn't mean that ugly and wasn't being an azz. I had a few drinks and am not only excited about thrashing the Volunteer punks but seeing Bama limping into halftime...this could be a really great day.
I slow mo'd it on my DVR and it was so close, but there was not enough evidence to over turn, therefor the play stands as called on the field.
They were on to it when he was a true freshman, using him as a running back. But we had no passing game back then, and he wasn't very good against 8 in the box. Once we made UT respect the pass today, Shep found some room to run.
yeah...throw him one within 5-10 yards and let him make 1 guy miss and run for 14-40 yards because the dude sure can't freakin' catch anything 20 yards downfield....
I've watched it over and over and it's definately NOT a backwards pass (which, by rule, indicates the completion to be considered a "run"), but you'd have to look real hard to prove it to be a forward pass. It's one of those that had they ruled a forward pass no one would look at it again...so maybe it's because of that, that I wished both players would get credit for such a nice play.
I haven't seen a replay of it. Got to look at where the ball is being released. Man that play had all the feel of a forward pass that I didn't give it 2nd thought. A TD would have moved Lee all the way to 25th nationally in QBE Rating as well as LSU being #1 overall in the SEC with that same stat.
