We won't be short this coming season, but if we don't get a couple in this class then we won't have good depth there 2 years from now.

Our coaches want 2 in this class, so they say it...

Alexander and Favorite are gone after next season and there is a good chance that RJF might be gone too. That leaves us with Nevis and Woods. Nevis appears to be a major star in the future but Woods hasnt really shown the potential he was billed as having. We have guys like Blackwell who could be moved but still in all Id say that DT is a pretty big need right now. Its not quite as glaring as LB and CB because those are needs for the coming season but in two years DT could be a really big need.

Defensive Tackle: whe have six now of which two will be seniors {isn't that true} next year leaving us four. If we don't get two this year {& redshirt them as is normally done with interior linemen isn't it} wouldn't that leave us kinda thin in 09? Or is having that number on a team about average? I don't know - Just asking.

When does the recruiting "Dead" period end? Did it end last week some time or is it this week - today or when? I would guess its already over with LSU having recruits visiting this weekend? I heard on the radio that the Falcons had contacted Pete Carroll for the coaching position & that he was vacationing in Hawaii. Kinda made me wonder if the dead period was still ongoing.

It may be Texas because he could go in there and start as a true freshman.

Either way, it won't be LSU & I can't say I blame him. He wants immediate playing time, and LSU can't offer it.

:geaux: :crystal: :helmet: Absolutely. W'e've got to keep the depth and talent level intact. We can't get in a situation like the '05 class when we only got 1 OL (Ciron Black) and our depth got critical. I'd like to see us get a DT or two.:geauxtige :champs: :LSU231: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal:

The DT position may be a little thin for 09. We'll have Drake Nevis, Al Woods, and Kentravis Aubrey. Will Blackwell could easily be moved to DT and IMO should be. Ricky Jean Francois may be back but probably not. Charles Alexander could also with a medical redshirt for this past season. Next year Louisiana is stocked better at DT with Chris Davenport from Mansfield being one of the top prospects at the position in the country and other good quality players such as Darrington Sentimore out of Destrehan. Still we could use a couple of good ones in this class. Just saying that if we don't we are still going to be allright at that position. Is Cordian Hagans going to be a DT or O-Line? Don't hear much about him. Maybe we get Moses McCray, Brandon Thompson, and/or Lavar Edwards(mixed reports on him however) in this class though. Are there any possible surprises at this position that we are not hearing about right now as signing day draws near?
