The play where the Hog running back got swallowed up by Tigers and #33 for Ark grabs or is handed the ball by the original ARK back and runs for first down :huh:Anyone know why this was not called a forward lateral? Was if a fumble or what? No real impact on game. Not beoching...just wondering if the call was missed.
I thought about that when I saw it. That's really rare, you don't see it often because one of our guys could've grabbed the ball. I don't think the refs saw what happened, and I highly doubt that was a reviewable play.
People in my section were screaming the same thing, however the in house replay was from behind. I haven't seen a quality replay of it, but live it looked like an illegal forward lateral.
The announcers were too busy jawing about what a great play it was by Arkansas. At least I didn't hear them mention it. Gary Danielson is usually pretty sharp about such things...no mention. I think it would have been reviewable as any other lateral would be, that is, I think it would. Just seemed to me that the officials should have blown it dead due to stopped forward progress. I thought is was a pivotal play when it occurred due to the first down yardage. Not sure what it is about Arkansas for the past few seasons. They always seem to get needed yardage or last second points on either dumb luck or good but totally odd plays that are hard to believe.
I was just too pissed off because we out of all those that hit him, not one went for the legs to bring him down. Never heard if the announcers said anything.
Just a missed call by the refs, no biggie. Arkansas did not score on the drive either. It was a handoff forward, which is illegal. However, had they ruled it a fumble, it would have been a forward fumble, which then cannot be advanced by the offense, and it would have been brought back to the "scrum."
