Game time prediction 93 degrees with a 98 degrees heat index. Joe Aleva has issued a statement telling fans to hydrate before game time and that bottled water will be sold at reduced prices. But there will be a limited quantity of water due to space restrictions. LSU should NEVER play a day game at home in September. This looks like a good game to watch on TV in air conditioned comfort.
Thank you ABC for the 11 AM Syracuse kickoff but at least it's in a dome and even if it was outdoors New York weather is much less oppressive that Louisiana weather in September
I plan to be miserable, even wearing a white LSU shirt, a safari hat and the darkest shades I possess. I will be sunburned despite sunscreen. I ain't gettin' no younger. A day may come when I would rather sit watching a big screen in the air conditioning. But this is not that day. Alluvia should have his butt kicked for not allowing people to bring in water. They always run out. Always.
THhata is awfully hot to play good football. Just hope none of the players are affected adversely. Unfortunately, it will take a tragedy to balance the almighty dollar. Sad. Geaux Tigers.
Expect lots of cramping. All players should be hooked up to an IV as quickly as they can get in the locker room for half time.
Weather Channel predicts a high of 95 degrees, 54% humidity, and a heat index of 108 degrees. Inside that bowl of white concrete sitting in the sun, it will be higher. People are going to drop--on the field and in the stands. I am already uncomfortable . . .
More likely a tragedy in the stands with somebody having a heat stroke than the young, superbly conditioned players on the field. If the Tigers were playing a northern team it would be a distinct advantage but it gets hot and humid in Alabama too so the Auburn players are as used to it as the LSU players. Football is played outdoors in the daytime in cities that are very hot in September: Miami, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Tampa in the NFL as well as quite a few college teams. I don't know how those cities handle the water for the fans situation but what LSU should do is to allow people to bring in their own water in plastic bottles and install drinking fountains in the stadium so fans could drink and also refill their water bottles.
It's important for players and fans to pre hydrate. The players will be given lots of electrolyte containing sports drinks before the game but there will still be some cramping. Most fans are going to pre hydrate on beer and whiskey which is the worst thing they can do to avoid getting sick during the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if LSU doesn't score in the first quarter and a half in that game, that's f'n early
