Flynn's first start was in the Peach Bowl against a Miami team most gave us little chance to beat and he led the team to a 41-3 win in JR's absence due to injury. It's kinda misleading cause after a 3-3 first quarter, LSU pulled away to a 20-3 lead at halftime and never looked back so there wasn't actually a lot of pressure through most of the game. He's been in a lot of "Big games" that went down to the wire though and he can handle the pressure if need be. He's a REAL SOLID qb but not exceptional. He's a great kid and leader- the team really respects him and he doesn't make a lot of "Bad" decisions. We have some speedy RB's though and Hester is a stud- prefers running over defenders than out of bounds.
FLYNN NEVER SLIDES! He puts that shoulder down and gets the extra. The only time he runs out of bounds is when 8 against 1 dont make great odds. Thats what makes him a great leader. :tigereye:
Ummm, since David Patterson graduated from Ohio State last year and is on the Falcons roster I'm doubting that he plays in this one. The Ohio State tackles in this game will be Denlinger (was injured earlier in the year), Worthington, Abdallah and Larimore. BTW, this is a great group at this forum. They'll pull your chain from time to time but they're good people who'd I'd gladly share food and drink with.
Given the current status of his shoulder he needs to learn to slide for this one. One big blindside hit on the shoulder and he's done for the day. Not that Pyan P can't step in and do a good job, he can.
Thank you. that's all I was looking for. Having Dorsey, not only causes big plays but by forcing the double team, is as important in creating opportunities for teammates. though i'm hoping we don't have to triple team him...that would truly be frightening. Though I don't think the buckeyes keep him quiet, I would like to think the buckeye O Line keeps him more in check than some other teams have been able to. I have the utmost respect for LSU. They have taken everyone's best shot this year, and anyone who can compete the way they have is going to be tough to beat, even on an off day. I am, however, way too worked up for this game, and reeling from everyone saying OSU has no chance against a superior LSU team. I have been hoping for this matchup all year, as have many of the buckeye fans that I know, as we wanted a chance to test our mettle (that we believe is good enough to have a solid chance of winning) with the best in the country, especially after last year's bowl game. This is about redemption, maybe not publicly for the buckeye team, but definitely for the fans, who are as passionate as anyone else in the country, and have been continually insulted all year.
Unfortunately, until you get yourself a CCG you are subject to more of the same. No pokin here cause I am not a hater, but how does it feel as a tOSU fan to sit in the clubhouse while all of the big conferences are playing CC games and wait for a bowl bid? Just wondering, first round of drinks on me!
how about some herman johnson on espn.com's "players to watch in the bowl game" zoom gallery: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/flash/zoomGallery?section=gen&photoGalleryId=3162181
And what if it happens again and you are subject to it for another year? As I've said, I think it will be a close game but it also has to potential to be another blow out- our way- as well.
On Dorsey, it's simple. You either double/triple team him...allowing someone else on the D-Line to have a big night...or you make the mistake of trying to go mano y mano with him...allowing HIM to have a big night. No homerism intended...but you have to understand, there's a reason he's a likely #1 pick in the draft.
