I watched a two hour replay which cuts out meaningless plays. I thought we looked a lot better in these selections. Maybe we did better than we thought.

Agree here Run, I've been through this game like 3 times since seeing it live from 7 rows from the field. Cam drives this car, people can say what they want. What Cam did was tell Jenning, listen to me and I'll take you to the promised land. He was not going to have Jennings take the loss. He knew what to call and what would work. Much of what Cam called, he knew would give us a chance to win. He knew he had time. Remember this, it was good to pull out this win, it tells the kids, listen to the coaches, we win games. Like I said before the season started, 57.1% on 3rd down conversions. Knowing what to call and when to call it. Jennings didn't turn the ball over, does anyone remember, "Pick 6." Cam wasn't going to get into this with a young QB. I like what we have, Cam had two new OL starting, a true freshman starting at WR, look at Dural, people were looking at what he did last year, which compared to OBJ and Landry, was minimal. Keep an eye on #9, when this team goes to 4 wides, teams are gonna play hell trying to cover. Cam didn't rush it, but took the kids and said, do your job, handle what you need to do. All the WR's did a very good job of downfield blocking, Cam wants the kids blocking, giving the ball carriers room to run.

Ok, with the OL of Wiskey, Mike Detillier said that all these guys would make it to a pro team. I don't see us going up a team with a better OL than the one we saw Sat night. Think of this one, they started 3 Red-Shirt Srs., one Red-Shirt Jr. and one Red-Shirt Soph. Don't think we'll see a better OL this year, don't think we'll see an equal line this year. They are very good, with the run and the pass. LSU had some young pups going against 23 and 24 year old men, like I said, lots of growing up was done Sat night.

I said before 13 Red-Shirt Srs. were on their roster.

    Great win for the Tigers.

The best line and the best running back that LSU will see all year.

Saturday's win against Wiskey was a very good win. I think, sometimes we get caught up in the fact that we're supposed to win, but may not realize how challenging a particular opponent would be. Wiskey was who we thought they were, and without us stopping them, and scoring on 4 or 5 straight possessions, we probably lose that game.

Having said that, here is my Good, The Bad, and the Ugly:

    The Good
Our Tigers fought hard for 4 quarters
Second Half adjustments (after 1st Wiskey Drive) were perfect. I have confidence in this coaching staff
Jennings had a strong 2nd half. Didn't panic and didn't make a careless mistake with the football.
Overall play of our secondary was impressive. Both coverage and run support.
The fake punt. I like those things everytime they work.
    Our Wideouts Run after Catch
    Kenny Hilliard looks pretty good.

    The Bad
Everything in the First Half - how were we not prepared for their line play? On either side of the ball?
Veteran LB's going to the wrong gaps. Maybe this is more of a credit to their Off Scheme than an indictment on our play, but we're not playing rookie LB's.
Our screen game. WOW.... maybe this one should go in the Ugly section.

    The Ugly
We're always one of the most penalized teams. Delay of game penalties drive me crazy
My mood from halftime until our second FG in the 3rd qtr
Their QB made me love ours! It could always be worse.

Does that mean - considering we had two first-time starters at the DT positions - we may have been too rough in our criticism after the game?

Possibly. But they are a weak link with much room to improve.

Looking somewhat that way Red, looking at their starting defense, they had 7 Red-Shirted players. Three of them were Red-Shirt Srs. On the backups, just on defense, 14 Red-Shirted players saw in game action. Thats a total of 21 defensive red-shirt players, many that have been in their system for 5 years.

As you can see, this was a veteran defensive team, many played.

Rasco played very well, Hunter did not, he gave up the corner on the speed sweep multiple times. Everything else I agree with.

He was out of position on a couple of early runs. But he corrected it and finished with 7 tackles (second on the team) and 1 tackle behind the line. Hunter is going to be OK.
