Don't think I've ever seen a delay penalty on ANY kickoff. I also rarely see black kickoff specialists. Probably no correlation but it did cross my mind at the time.
fournette never got the holes- but still his ability early on was disappointing. the holes that opened up in the fourth quarter were twofold- wisconsin was gassed and the had massive injuries to their anchor defensemen. TE dropped balls rb dropped balls- wr did pretty good i though. we have a stable fo running backs-- we did the same strategy- stay with running game, bc it will be there in fourth quarter - the D will be exhausted and we will have fresh rbs im happy with our secondary- not our line so much-- but wisconsin is a big , big team and our speed was no match for big , good blockers harris-- not his fault- people got to him unblocked- unacceptable jennings can throw darts!
How deep is the secondary? Wow, they are awesome. I think Les and company need to just trust the team and stop playing so conservative. You know know your team can bring you back from a deficit. What I don't understand is why play Harris and kill any confidence the kid has? He shouldn't have played.
Interesting factoid from ESPN Sports write up of the game. Incredibly, LSU now has a winning record under Les Miles when trailing in the 4th quarter. Their 22 such wins are the most in FBS since he took over in 2005 while they are the only FBS program with a winning record in such games. I think they need to bring these rookies along slowly. They have a lot to take in and best go through the playbook gradually. We get to play a couple of cupcakes now. Opportunities to work out some technical problems. And time to bring in some more of the offense.
Jennings looked a lot better as the game wore on. There were certainly ugly moments, but he seems quite in sync with Dural (they had that in the Arkansas game, too--seems obvious to me they have worked out together a lot.) Quinn and Diarse had some good plays, too. We're really, really inexperienced, though. But we all knew that, didn't we? And let's include Fournette and Harris in that inexperienced category and leave it at that. They will not be inexperienced forever, but we'll all notice the growing pains. We did lose so much of our offensive productivity, but there were moments of spark that made me hopeful. Kenny Hilliard looked better the entire game, not just in the 4th quarter. He was running it best in the 1st quarter as well, but we were rotating backs so often that he didn't get into a rhythm. And, yes, Hilliard was running at will in the 4th, but that is always our strategy and philosophy. We work all game to wear out a defense in the 4th. With that being said, Fournette and Magee still weren't getting anything in the 4th quarter. I can forgive that in a true freshman; Magee was a disappointment, though. Curse of the number 18?
the fourth down had been there since our first punt. we all saw it coming- hey we got three points out of it! i really like the two point conversion- i want to see more screen passes to wrs and rbs especially that welker look alitke white guy-- get the ball to ur playmakers and let the other team miss tackles--- i like how wisconsin stacked the line and made us beat them thru the air--- we needed to do the same much earlier on
