I hope you're right, but they did give up over 200 yards rushing to a team that's had it's struggles against elite competition and they still haven't generated any pass rush.
I'm hoping this is the case. Although the first stop we made was due to the QB not hitting the rb running a wide open wheel route, good for 20 yards if he hits him immediately. He waited too long and the pass was defended on 4th down. The interception occurred on a wide open receiver which would have gotten an easy first down. Poorly overthrown, but at least Tre White made the interception and had a big return. The other 4th down stop was due to, once again, the QB throwing way too late to a wide open receiver. The pass was once again defended. It's baby steps for this defense. At least they have more confidence going into the Florida game. Something tells me we're going to have to hold Florida to under 30 points if we're going to win. I don't see us getting past the 31 point mark on offense against that really good defense.
Good: Everything on offense. Bad: Everything on defense. Ugly: Freak didn't even make the sack just hit the QB and knocked him into another player and still got up with gorilla arms. I'm very apprehensive in buying into anything to do with the defense. However we did see a few new names out there and they appear to have taken a few redshirts off which if nothing else will give us a rotation of guys to keep people fresh. Also will help a lot next year for freshman to get significant PT this year.
I don't know, Gators defense is tough yes, but I think our Offense may be too much for them. I think we score 41. Bright side is, I think we see the best defensive football we've seen so far next week, which will be more than enough to beat the gators.
I've got 31-27 LSU, with Florida getting stopped inside our 10 yard line with less than a minute to go.
Exactly! Combine a thin DL with a young secondary that cant cover and its a recipe for disaster. LSU always blitzed, playing aggressive. With a secondary and LBs that cant cover we cant send anyone extra. The coaches have to coach up as well as figure better schemes. Personally Id rather hit the QB with blitzes. We getting burned a lot anyways. At least that way we may make a QB gun shy. The tackling must be addressed as well.
To qoute John McKay: Reporter: "Coach, what do you think about the execution of your defense." Coach McKay: "I'm all for it!"
We didn't score enough points to beat UGA, although 41 points should be enough of a cushion for any defense.
