The Good - We played to our potential and dominated the Red Raiders - LF7 212 yards rushing and 4 TD's - Harris had a strong 2nd half, after the first 3 possessions of the 3rd quarter - Our front 4 were dominant from the first play until the last. Tech couldn't block us. At all - Explosive plays. I know it's the #125 defense, but it's nice to see 10 plays of 25 yards or more. - I enjoyed our mix-it-up play calling in the 2nd half - 254 yards passing. I don't care who we're playing. That's a good number for us. - BHarris's potential - That Texas Tech quarterback was a stud. A warrior. We chased him and hit him all night, and he fought like heck. - Our superior talent is obvious - Harris's throw to LF7 - out in front of him, right in the breadbasket where LF7 could catch and run. - Harris's throw to Trey Quinn - We hit those guys hard all night long - It was nice to see our guys hungry The Bad - 10 penalties - Our kickoff business - the pooch kick gave them the ball near the 40 numerous times - Watching Harris fail at the medium throws. He was high a time or two. Skipped one. Off target several other times. This is our biggest challenge with him. Improve his accuracy on intermediate throws and we'll have something. The Ugly - Playing 7-5 Texas Tech in any bowl game, with our superior talent, for me, is ugly.
Also bad, Harris missed at least two wide open receivers and Jeter dropped two passes I could have caught.
Also drops by our wr. Some of those incompletes were not on Harris. He floated a couple nice ones and we dropped them. At least it looked like he is trying to improve his short to medium passing. Also Cam on the sideline was nice to see. I like him calling from the sideline and Les leaving him alone. It appeared we made adjustments better with him having direct access to our offense.
Add to the ugly, the 35 yard ad-lib pass to Diarse that was negated by an ineligible man downfield penalty. Didn't see how ugly that play was when it happened, but watched the tape this morning. BH faked the handoff to LF, delayed a second, then flipped it to Diarse in the flats. But at the snap, not one, but 2 linemen immediately went downfield as if it were a run play all along. We definitely had 11 guys on 2 different pages that time.
Did anyone else think Tech played kinda dirty? They weren't Andre Waters dirty, but still dirty I thought.
Thanks PG - good job. BAD - the refs missed several OL downfield on his scramble & throw plays. But that guy was good. I think the refs lost track of the OLinemen because they had to keep up with him all over the field.
