You know, how many times have we seen players less deserving than others win it, simply because they got the hype machine running early. We may look back at this and argue that it was the best thing he could have done...
If this is the worst he is found guilty of, he's got a lot of athlete-students beat. Heisman-winners, even.
For all of the talk about LSU being a run-heavy team this year because of the young quarterbacks and receivers . . . right now LSU has more total yards and touchdowns through the air (489 yards, six TDs) than on the ground (460 yards, five TDs).
Stats through 2 look good, but I'm still a little worried with our passing game. Better defenses will hammer down on that 9 route to Dural that has been very successful. Bringing a safety over the top to cover will at least take 1 guy out of the box to help the run, but I am still waiting to see if Jennings can hit his 2nd and 3rd options before tucking & running. The sample size (whilst it has been fun to watch) has not been big enough yet for me to determine Jennings can sling it around the yard the way we may need him to in order to win some tough games down the stretch. Cheers to hoping he can and will. Did anybody else see watch Matthew Stafford last night and see a comparison to Brandon Harris based on their mechanics?
I suspect Cameron is only giving Jennings single-read pass-or-run plays right now. When he gets comfortable with it, and he looks like he is, they will work in plays with multiple receiver options.
@LSU_4_LIFE I agree with you on the passing, but if you think about it other than Mett, both of these guys have looked like they can throw it enough. Couple years ago we went undefeated with 2 QB which could NOT throw. I think as long as they respect the pass, our runners can make yards. Cam seems to still like to put up >500 yards of offense, I think it doesn't matter if we get em on the ground or the air or a combination. We will beat most with those numbers.
