La'el Collins came back for his senior year. This line has a massive amount of experience. This is NOT a rebuilding year for this unit. They were supposed to be the cornerstone of this offense, helping the young inexperienced QB, RBs and WRs flourish. What happened here?

Maybe we can make a mid year move to the Big 10!

Indeed, it is not an OL rebuilding year. Much is a mystery, but I have some suspicions. I'll repeat my comments from the other thread.

I still have hope that something can be done with the offensive line. Again size, strength, and talent is there, but no basic competence and nothing approaching dominance. Frankly they don't appear to be very bright about offensive football. Only a quarterback must be more knowledgeable about complex defenses than an offensive lineman and I don't think ours know their technical business very well. A coach can't make a big strong guy smarter, but he can find a smart guy and make him bigger and stronger. And he can teach them their jobs better, working with their limitations. Neither is going to happen fast, but if Grimes can do some things with this bunch before the season is over, he'll have earned his keep. And perhaps recruit better mental agility along with all that speed, size and athleticism in the future.
Grimes inherited this line from Studrawa, who most folks thought didn't get it done on the OL. One of the few coaches Les has sent packing. I'll give Grimes time to get this line performing and see who he can recruit before I throw him under the bus. I gave Stud two years before giving up on him. I like the 5-star Honor student that they are trying to get to defect from Notre Dame. That is exactly the kind of linemen we need. Big, fast, smart, and athletic.

    We recruited dumb linemen. Hmmmm......

    Duly noted. Thanks.

PS - Great to hear you have the ability to give up on a position coach. A couple of years late, but hey, who is counting?

Not exactly, but we may be better sometimes with a lineman that is a little smaller or shorter but understands blocking angles, shifts, stunts, and plays his ass off. Guys like T-Bob or even a converted defensive lineman like Barksdale. Not sure if we have someone like that on the bench but it would not surprise me for Grimes to try some new faces if he thinks he does.

What, you had him figured out in game one? Stud and Gonzales are the only coaches I wanted gone early. But not inside of a year. None of them have magic wands.

Well, that would be statistics, which must be ignored.

Again, rebuilding is fine. Losing is fine. Was it NOT acceptable though is a team that does not improve. A team that has shown no fire or focus and a pathetic game plan to start the game against the two best opponents. The time management issues are also inexcusable for a HC at a major college to continually have in most games.

If LSU comes out and plays well but Miss St or whomever or just better that game then I'm good with it.

I thought the 21-point 4th quarter was quite an improvement. But LSU's slow starts in each of these games is becoming an issue. Being a fine 4th-quarter team will not always work when you dig yourself into a hole early.

They did come back but it is a loss that probably should have been avoided had Les not been so hard headed. I do not feel he should be fired but the AD should put some pressure on him to perform better. Since' 11 BCSCG Miles has not done a good job.

Put the Kool Aid down Red. We got pounded and dominated for three quarters. MSU gave us some gifts in the 4th which made the score close.

After 4 games we have seen what this O line has to offer and it ain't much. They have been playing football for a long time. If they can't block by now they aren't going to figure it out next week or the one after and so on. I expect them to regress
