But the TD stats aren't really a fair comparison. Two of his 3 TDs have been of the one-yard variety. Les is doing with DW what he did with Hilliard 4 years ago...lining up a big tailback at fullback and using him as the designated short yardage ballcarrier. Not necessarily better or worse than LF, just taking advantage of another good player's different set of skills. I for one like that Les does this.
Williams was a very highly rated RB, he was just overshadowed by Fournette. Most people that follow recruiting knew he had big potential and he's just getting started.
I thought he would be the third-down back. Pick up the blitz or slide out into the flat for a pass. And I still think that.
Magee looked pretty good last year. I think he's fine. None of the running backs are exactly tearing it up, which has been good in that it has gotten Williams more carries than he might have expected. If the line can start opening some holes, all of these running backs can get the job done.
Before the season Les Miles said this might be the best offensive line he had ever coached. He said the same thing before the 2008 season. If they don't start playing up to expectations our young QB will be in a lot of trouble when they start the SEC schedule.
