crazy love for the D. JJ is getting hammered. Miles is as well. Basically they are saying, what we saw tonight 50runs/20pass will be what we see for the rest of the season. No one trusts JJ.

I liked the DL, most of what I saw from the OL (Williford had one penalty and one blown stunt pick up but showed potential to move bodies like Big Herm) and of course Ridley looked phenomenal. Blue and Ware looked tremendous as well.

Mostly though, I liked that we didn't settle for a 13-3 or 20-3 win, we went out there and pounded one more TD down their throats for good measure. That is how an LSU team should play. Stopping the run and pounding the rock. That's a formula success whether the QB is on his game or not.

Obviously what I didn't like was JJ in the first half and on the one ill-advised throw to the end zone. However, he did string together a few completions in the second half and picked up some first downs for us on the drive that ended in the pick.

All in all, I give the team a B+, with points taken off for Jefferson's shakiness and the first half sluggishness.

To be fair to JJ, the OL was NOT acceptable in the first half...even without the penalties.

To be realistic and honest about JJ, no, he did NOT string together "a few" completions at any time in the game. He strung together 2. 2. He played terribly. There is no way to candy coat it. He's got to improve. The bad news is, it was his worst game ever. The good news is, it was his worst game ever, and LSU won by 24.

oh and the radio show is calling for at least a package or 2 for Lee in the next game. At least to mix things up some.

Yes, I'm also of the opinion that JL needs multiple snaps in each game; even though it is generally disruptive--even counterintuitive--to alternate QB's, JL needs to have HIS game face on for every game; he needs to be spooled up to take over due to injury/performance concerns. That means he needs snaps, to stay frosty!

Upside of QB subs is how our opponents' D's will have to adjust to different QB styles & cadences--at a moment's notice!

Something I hope TPTB think about!

you guys know i'm a sunshine pumper but I do think we need to see some more of Lee. Especially if Jefferson starts off a game again like he did tonight.

Nice turn of events for Lee. He may actually get to walk on the field in Tiger stadium to cheers instead of boos! :thumb:

I wish JJ could get it together, though. Would be nice to see him playing well under pressure.

    The Good:

    - 2 weeks in a row our defense has stuffed the opponents running game.
    - 71 total plays and 280 yards rushing with an avg of 5.6 yards per carry.
    - TOP for us was 33:49; them 26:11.
    - 7 sacks and numerous Tackles for Loss.
    - JJ had all the time in the world to throw the ball.
    - Miles definitely got involved in the play-calling. We kept things basic and really started moving the ball.

    The Bad:

    - Watching JJ hold the ball for an eternity back there and not make a decision. Tuck it and run or throw it away? Pick one please.
    - The first 3 possessions were absolutely terrible. JJ looked like he was on another planet.
    - LSU is paying Crowton $480K (or something like that) and we can't get the ball to RR, RS, TT and Murphy in space so they can make plays. I saw numerous plays designed for these guys but JJ's throws were so bad that we couldn't get anything going.

    The Ugly:

    - Our QB situation. Awful. Not sure if we need to start Lee or JJ, or scrap the whole thing and go to a spread with Shep or Ware as the QB.
    - Our offensive philosophy. I mean, what are we trying to do?

    In Summary:

Our defense has looked top-notch for the most part in both these 1st 2 games.
Our offense looks out-of-sync and still confused at times. Cant execute even the simple stuff.
We have about 2 more games to find a QB and/or offensive solution before "stuff hits the fan".

I agree that he had a terrible game, but if the ball hits your hands it'ss your job to catch it. That's why you get to go to school for free. s far as his fate is concerned, number 12 may be playing against Miss St. but I doubt it.
