On the flip side, Matt Moscona and a cpl of other media heads were calling Miles stupid for going for it on 4th and 1 when Hilliard punched it in for the TD. Had we not gone for and settled for the FG like they were calling for, we wouldn't have been in the position to win the game with that FG. It's all relative.
Another ugly...having a penalty for 12 men in the huddle right after a time out. Still have no idea how stuff like that keeps happening, but everything else was good. Loved that we went to Melvin Jones for some easy completions and yards to make it easy in Jennings. Little stuff like that makes a huge difference and makes you think how much more we could be doing to help Jennings get some easy completions and shorter 3rd downs
Jones at 6'3" and 255#'s is a tough one. Looks to see more playing time. Had a great game last night, his blocking was very good at times. A little more on him... You'd rather put it on Jennings than Delahoussaye? Why? Who has a history of being more clutch? (Though, despite what his detractors say, AJ has had some rather clutch moments, too--some of them last night.)
We were blown out by MSST. LSU came back against the scout team. Honestly though, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Mississippi State is the best team in the country, LSU fought back, but c'mon, we were crushed. The score doesn't reflect that but it's true. When these guys do put it all together though, watch out.
We were getting blown out by MSU, absolutely. But make no mistake, we staged a comeback and had Harris heaved the ball one foot farther, Quinn may have caught the game winner. It was that close, which no one could have predicted at the start of the 4th quarter that night.
Had Miles put Harris in before we turned the ball over 3 times, we just might've put it together sooner and wouldn't have needed a blue grass miracle. Again it's all relative.
