I think some are selling NK short. NK troops are less than 20 miles from Seoul. Using conventional weapons alone they could take Seoul on day one. Sophisticated weapon systems cannot shoot down artillery shells, and probably can’t do much against short range tactical missiles. Speed and time are why joint US-SK exercises are so important. There will be no time to re-learn lessons or figuring things out. Taking Seoul will elicit an overwhelming strong US response. What will China or Russia do? What will NK do? I’d be leery of trying to figure that one out, but I don’t see a good outcome. Once the NK gets to Seoul, things get interesting in a very bad way.
Riders are often attached to spending bills to get something they want by both sides at all levels of politics from city governments to the national level. And changing the name of a military base has absolutely nothing to do with national security.
repealing section 230 has noting to do with national security either. BTW... the renaming of bases passed 84-16 in the Senate. They laugh at Trump's section 230 request. Some sympathize with his desire but don't think it belongs here. "230 has nothing to do with the military," Sen. James Inhofe, a Republican and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told The Hill. "I agree with his sentiments ... but you can't do it in this bill. That's not a part of the bill." Inhofe reportedly said he conveyed this message to Trump. His strong arm tactic won't work. Despite what he thinks, he is out on Jan 20.
It would cause at lot of problems for SK if we had to do it but it would also cause a lot of problems for China which is a good thing. And, yes, if we leveled everything of value in NK rhe war would be over. Who would resupply the NK troops. Would they stand on a street corner in Seoul holding signs that say Will Work for Bullets?
if this is true, how many days would it be before they would lose it back, 3 days? also that seems pretty tough to take a city of almost 10 million in one day. is your contention that we need to leave large numbers of troops there forever? how should we deal with kim? be meaner?
this is clearly true and we would turn everything useful in north korea into rubble immediately. this war would end as quick as it started
