I have looked to see how predictable the play calling is and it is predictable. LSU runs out of multiple formations 67% of the time. Last year it was a little less. Teams know going in this year that LSU will not try to establish the pass. Of course, they have to complete the passed they attempt but those passes are made to compliment the run. There is not a balance. The opposition knows that. Florida is coming in to stop the run and LSU is going to try to run. Quote me after the game if I'm wrong. I will be pleasantly surprised.
This will be my last post in this thread. I didn't have a problem with Saban when he left and I don't have a problem with him today. I just have a hard time understanding your hate for Miles. The success we've enjoyed since Saban left is a result of everyone's efforts but Miles in your eyes. I'M DONE!!
Not at all. You're right. It's not worth debating. Those that see it see it clearly. Those that don't never will.
There are people who are just as good at picking winners as savvy stock investors are at picking the right stock. Too bad I'm not one of them
I honestly miss seeing a dominant D at LSU. I enjoyed the great defensive battles we use to see in the SEC. Where the D's were so dominant. So no, I do not mind an O that has more run than pass. The issue at hand is the play calling is too predictable based on personnel and formations. I often know what play and where it is going. Therefore the opposing DC will know as well. That is my issue with the play calling. I do feel that we have to try to pass. Even if we are missing far more than connecting. The attempts will at least keep the D more honest. For the record I do not like the pansy calls that pervade the NFL and college football. I do enjoy a good passing attack but I enjoy smash mouth football as well. I like that LSU was known for it's smash mouth style in this day and age.
I'm not calling for Les to be fired. He has won consistently and the championship is deserving of time to fix the issues. My complaint with Miles is that since the BCSCG despite a good record LSU has not played that well. Especially in this season. My issue is there is no reason for LSU to come out so flat every week. THe play calling must improve. We must see some improvement in the team from week to week. Also the time management issues Miles' must be addressed. Chavis is the one who has really been slacking. He has not coached up the LB's and his schemes are not working. He is the reason LSU lost the Clemson, Bama, Ole Miss, and UGA games. I do not feel I'm being too harsh here like some.
LSU averages 212 yards a game rushing and 221 yards passing. That is one of the most balanced offenses in the FBS. Something else that hasn't happened much this year are interceptions. Limiting the passes from these rookie quarterbacks has limited the turnovers.
Agreed. Since the BCSCG, LSU has played in the toughest Division in the history of football. Especially this season with 6 of the 7 teams ranked last week. Our two losses have come to top-5 teams. Yes, there have been games we did not play well but we have not been alone in that. The other West Division teams are all very good and they had a lot to do with that. Losing all those juniors also had a lot to do with it. We can't blame Les for every factor that goes into a football game. Time management, yes. Our tough schedule, No. Agreed.
