there are really a tremendous number of things that the government does that re complete wastes of time and money and are almost always counterproductive. drugs, obviously, and so many other things, like the feds are pursuing apple over antri-trust nonsense. punishing one of the great companies in america for having smart business practices. but idiots just say "corporations are evil" and love to see them punished.

 

Some corporations are evil. The pursuit of profit shouldn't trump everything.

 

right but for the most part, you dont have to care what corporations do. for instance, in this apple suit, the government is suing them because of price controls on books thought the apple ebook store. the key is that you dont have t care if apple wnts profits because you dont have to buy apple things. the government is the problem because when they make a rule, yu are stuck with it. they can throw you in jail. it simply isnt possible for apple to be evil in a way that you care about. you dont have to work for them, you dont have to buy their stuff.

 

I agree with you, but 1 person isn't significant enough to change anything when it comes to profit. So when you say things like, well if you want to hurt that corporation, just don't buy their products. Well, if you get hundreds of thousands of other people to join you in your crusade then yeah I guess you could make a dent in their profits, but when you are just 1 person, not buying their products doesn't do a damn thing.

what do you care what a corporation does if you are not working for them or buying their products? if other people do work for tham, and they are mistreated, they should quit.

the problem is the government allows itself to be manipulated by the wrong corporations. thats a government problem, not a corporation problem.
