I really think he will have more touches as the season goes along. I do think that they are not game planning him touches yet, as he really isn't that kind of player. I don't think we miss a beat if TT leaves early. Although I think it would help if he stayed. Shepperd on the other hand is a beast, and I would like to see his touches around 10 a game, and more in the red zone.
I think it has more to do with that back-ups always being the favorite players on the team to fans, like how they say "the back-up QB is always the most popular guy on the team."
Well catching the ball 5 more times vs the 1 time he has made a catch won't count. So it's all relative. I just don't see him making any significant contribution to this offense this season if we couldn't get him involved vs our weakest competition. Injuries will have to force Miles' hand as usual to get him to move on this issue.
maybe that is just the thing we need to get him involved, is play better teams. I can tell you none of the guys we play from here on out are going to double or give safety help to compensate for Randle, (not that the teams we have played have done this, but others are open right now, so he isnt an option). Maybe Tolliver and Lafell for sure, but he is going to get alot of 1 on 1 when other receivers are covered. Look for him to start getting the ball.
I just don't see that. Don't be surprised if Randle doesn't even step on the field Saturday unless it's a 5 WR set. Miles may only opt to use Toliver, Lafell, Mitchell and RJ for all the 3 and 4 WR sets.
Randle's been in every game so far.... I doubt the coaches are telling JJ "don't throw to Randle." LSU's offense needs for him to TAKE the #3 WR position.
How soon we forget how Lafell dropped a ****load of EASY passes just a couple years ago. Tolliver has dropped a pass every game this year. They haven't figured OUT of the offense as a result. He's had a grand total of three balls thrown his way, two of which were poorly thrown bombs that he admittedly SHOULD have found a way to catch. As he progresses, he will have to make those plays. The QB isn't going to drop everything right in his bread basket. He needs more chances, and he'll get them...eventually.
Stacey wasn't dogging the kid, she just said if he wants to have Jefferson look his way, he needs to start hanging onto the ball. Lafell is a number 1 and a senior, of course he is going to get more balls his way, Jefferson has spent more time with him and he trusts him more. What she was saying, is if he wants Jefferson to look his way this season, he needs to make the most of the opportunities he gets.
In defense of Randle, he's dropping passes 30-40 yards down the field trying to make circus catches. Again, why haven't we built him up slowly and gotten his confidence going. The staff has blown it this year with him.
