Sure. If everyone went off to work, in a centrally run economy, where labor was rationally distributed to meet common needs, there taxes would be equitably taken and equitable spent by the government providing services. In such a system there are just too many points where human frailty disrupts the flow of wages, taxes, and services. As soon as equality breaks down, the decline begins.
As @Bengal B says it's not human frailty my friend. What you think if frailty is actually our greatest strength....the will to compete, to better ourselves no matter what. That is the spirit that has lifted us out of the morass to where we stand today. Even with the troubles and problems in today's world we are exponentially better off one and all than even 50 years ago. Why???Because of what we have wrought by dint of free market capitalism. Your socialist ideal is static and will only lead two ways death or dictatorship. It is a false ideal and one to be dreaded and fought against with all our souls. I hope you were being sarcastic because if you hold that as an ideal I'm so disappointed.
“The America Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” — Alexis de Tocqueville. De Tocqueville didnt know how right he was back then. That quote described today's democrats and sadly many so called republicans.
Moe if you listed 10 things closest to your heart and gdf did the same I bet 7 of those fit nicely together....we are closer than you want to admit.
I would like to believe that but I dont see it, besides gdf has no obligation to prove anything to me nor I to him. The fact that he hates Trump after living with the most anti America president in history for 8 years and him giving the witch a pass abd most likely voted for her is all I need to know.
