UGA's penalty was dumb. LSU's penalty was a makeup call because the refs realized it was dumb.

Horrible call yes agreed but I think we have had our own share so don't expect no apologies from me. I'm also not going to apologize for their lack of tackling. They couldn't stop our return game and still we were not quite in scoring position. No matter what in that situation your D should hold for a game winning fg ATTEMPT no guarantees we would make it. But did not matter in the end, mack truck Scott showed up to play and road killed one dog on the way to the end zone and neutered the rest of those puppies.

probably why most people are commenting on it.
we know as well as anyone how bad it feels to have a guy in stripes phuck up your chance to win a hard fought game.
the big return negated the effect of the call in my opinion, but it is easy to see how that call could have had a much bigger impact.

Exactly. The penalty wasn't what lost them the game. It was failure to stop Holliday and Scott. We took a make-up penalty at that point but LSU did not fail to defend. Georgia had the ball again with time on the clock, what more could they ask for? The interception is what really cost them the game.

On a related note, Peterson was perilously close to a couple of taunting calls IMO. I wish he'd stop that.

I saw it, and I agree. Coaches need to talk to him about that. But, he is a TREMENDOUSLY COMPETITIVE individual, I'd like to see an extended interview with him. I guess he's my favorite player on defense.

Scott wouldn't have been running the ball if we were fifteen yards back. Our rattled quarterback who was worried about throwing ints would have been passing.

Listen, we have gotten jobbed way worse than this. Notably Auburn Pass Interference in 05 maybe? Whenever it was. The point is that a horrible call at a very minimum effected how the game ended. Maybe it wouldn't have changed but it definitely had an effect. I'm very happy we were on the right side this time. That's rare for us.

Definitely, I hated it when Laron Landry would do the same thing and i hate it now. He keeps it up and he WILL get called. it's a certainty.

he is definitely my favorite player in spite of this bad habit.

In the context of the pansy a$$ rules I think the coaches should talk to Peterson about stopping. That said its a stupid rule for him to be penalized. Again, it falls down to its an emotional advantage. If his jawing can get in someones head then its advantage LSU. Im against $hit talking when you getting your a$$ handed to you like Coleman and others were doing last year. When you doing it at the right time, in the flow of the game talk away baby as long as you backing it up. Peterson certainly backs it up. I wish they would just let kids play the damn game. Its a part of the game.

Dont get me wrong, Im all for sportsmanship and being humble. Being generous in defeat, but smack talking is a big part of the game IMO. What he doesnt isnt showing up an opponent, then Id have a problem with it.

Can anyone tell me if they stiffened up the rules this year? or has the rule been always in place, but never CONSISTENTLY applied?

Miles did admit after the game that that could have changed their play calling without the penalties.

The offense did step up for their two TD's, including Trindon's dazzling kickoff return that set up the final TD.

I think the ref looked at his watch and realized that UGA hadn't met their penalty quotas!:hihi:

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: GREAT IDEA!

I have to admit I stared for at least 15 to 20 secs, .....then I went back and rechecked it! Nice avatar indeed.

Didn't Laron Landry used to stare down at the opposing team's player he just hit, and maybe trash talk on the field? Don't remember he ever got called for anything.
