Landry was one of the biggest talkers Ive ever seen, but he damn sure backed it up. Personally I love it and think you should be able to talk all you want as long as you arent actually doing something to show up your opponent. Ex TO spiking the ball on the Dallas Star or something like that. Also no need for props. Good ole $hit talking and dancing, etc is all good with me.

Unsportsmanlike conduct is a point of emphasis this year. Gesturing to the stands is being ruled as inciting the crowd.

Without the penalty the first time, they kicked it to the 5 and Holliday ran it back 49 yards even after dropping it. That call would have been an afterthought if Georgia knew how to cover a kickoff. You can say that we might not have been running the ball if we were not as close as we were, but UGA did that to themselves. That other 5 yards they got penalized for was big because that put us in position to run so we could make it into field goal range. That was Georgia's fault. We did have two timeouts left, but we probably don't run it twice if Georgia doesn't make that mistake (putting the ball at the 38 instead of the 43). Our offense scored in 16 seconds.

We had the same penalty, only kicked it to Georgia's 22 (they kicked it to our 16 or so) and we stoped them after just an 11-yard gain to the 33. They had 42 seconds to do something (which is a lot of time when you have AJ Green on your team). Unfortunately for them, Georgia's snapper couldn't snap the ball at the point and it made it hard for UGA to do anything.

Calls hurt both teams during the game - Georgia got called for a clear fasemask on Charles Scott down inside the 10 (even though I think our O-lineman facemasked one of their guys while blocking). Obviously we didn't get many yards out of it due to where we were, but it gave us a 1st down after 2nd down.

But we were called for two illegal shifts after nice gains. I don't think either were shown or noticed on TV (which is rare because Danielson usually points out every little damn thing he sees). One was after Trindon caught a 12-yard pass ( and was hit up by the facemask after being out of bounds which should have been called). That put us just about in FG position right before half, but because of the illegal shift that was never shown, it was a 17-yard turn around.

We got called for another one after a great pass and catch from Jefferson/Toliver. That was after a 17-yard pickup late in the game. So again, that was a 22-yard turn for the worse. But LSU overcame it and went down the field to take the lead for the 2nd time anyway. LSU overcame their penalties with performance, Georgia did not.

Oh, and don't forget about the pushoff on AJ Green's first big catch (which the announcers noted) or the very obvious block in the back on Ealey's first run on the toss sweep.

So ya see, they missed and made calls on both sides that sucked and I'd say they evened out.

All I can say is thank God that Scott took it to the house and didn't get stopped after a one or two yard gain, because I don't think I wanted to see the clock/play management that would have occured on 3rd down even with a timeout based on the half time fiasco.

And, this one has the statement from the refs and it shows the clip from the game! It also states that it was NOT the reason UG lost the game!

First, I agree that both penalties were bull****. That said, I thought Trindon's return played a much bigger factor in the short field than where they kicked off. He fielded it on the 10 and made it all the way to the 45 or so. I guess the point could be argued that he may have kicked it out of the end zone and that's fair, but they still had the opportunity make the field longer if they're able to make a play before the big return. Our kickoff only made it to the 20, but our special teams where able to stop them around the 30-35.

I haven't read every post in this thread, so someone may have already covered this.

And the Georgia got another penalty for illegal formation on the kickoff--5 more yards added to Holliday's return, putting us in fine position.

Blaming this loss on the referees is a lame excuse for Georgia. Bad calls are part of the game, just like weather and injuries. Both teams got bad calls. All teams get bad calls.

Both excessive celebration penalties were ridiculous. I also think that these guys should enjoy the moment.

That being said, it didn't win the game for us. Holliday's return and Scott's fabulous, focused, never-say-die run did. Oh, and Riley's interception.

most definitely. everyone (well at least the puppies) seem to be forgetting the interception. they had their chance to capitalize on our penalty. instead they threw it away.

“It’s a credibility game,” said Georgia’s assistant head coach and defensive line coach Rodney Garner said. “We’re going to find out who is a contender and who is a pretender.”

    Guess we know now!
