LSU 2. USC 3. Texas 4. Ohio St. 5. UF 6. UGA 7. Miami 8. Bama 9. Oklahoma 10. FSU Note: ESPN just updated their rankings, and as I expected, LSU is indeed #1. LSU will have a difficult time of beating out Ohio State on Scout. LSU will probably have to pick up guys like Montgomery and Myles to do it. LSU and USC should battle it out for the final #1 ranking on ESPN. Getting Randle "could" solidify a #1 on ESPN, and it definitely will guarantee a #1 on Rivals.
LSU should inch closer to Ohio State on Scout, as Downs is moving way up and Garrett may indeed get a 4th star as well.
Some of the Scout rankings have been updated and the rest will be finished by tomorrow. Shep rose to #4 overall and still #2 QB. Ford dropped from #2 RB to #3, still 5* Davenport dropped to #7 DT, stays a 5* Downs reevaluated as a DT and is the #9 DT, up to a 4* Loston still #1 Safety, 5* Minter #5 MLB, still a 4* These are the only ones I know for sure that are up-to-date. None of the 3* LSU prospects have moved up as of now but maybe tomorrow.
LSU is 689 points behind Ohio State right now. Not sure why, as it appears LSU has essentially the same quality recruits and star rankings. It appears Scout takes into account more than the first 20 recruits, as OSU has 24 recruits and LSU has 21. So I suppose if LSU gets Randle and Mingo, then LSU should at that point be in a virtual tie with Ohio State. LSU should narrow the gap by almost 100 points after the rankings get readjusted.
Even if Ohio State gets the number one class for the next 4 years they will probably still lose if they play an SEC team in the title game again. I think it is a law! :hihi:
Here is the new Scout 300 rankings for LSU players: (5 and 4*) 1st # is new ranking: 5* Shep is 4 was 8 Loston 10, 22 Ford 32, 17 Davenport 43, 11 4* Downs 57, NR Minter 76, 103 Pratt 105, 56 Brockers 126, 104 Jackson 144, 129 Calhoun 239, 237 Faulk 275, 271 Bell 283, 280 Lowe 288, 292
Players of interest: Richardson 13 Randle 17 Debose 30 Montgomery 62 Jarvis Jones 72 Byron Moore 77 XSF 80 Fluker 103 Myles 112 Mingo 138 Kelly 214 Sentimore 250 Garrett is one QB spot out from being a 4* and the other six 3* recruits stayed at 3. Allen at 3* is a crime. MAybe they are not finished all the adjustments. not sure
Well if they would just use the .60 weight factor for kids north of the mason dixon line, then they would at least set the expections of Big 10 fans accordingly. :hihi:
With Scout giving the first 50 players a 5 star ranking, it's ashame Downs got that close without getting it. That would have narrowed the gap between LSU and Ohio State significantly. Still, LSU should have narrowed the gap by about 100 points, I suppose.
