the more years Crowton is here he is running more of his offense, when Flynn won the NCG they were using most of Fishers plays because the team knew those and Crowtons were complete different scheme like it is today, if they had GC play scheme when Flynn was here they would probably never played for the NCG, I disagree with anyone saying all this is the QB's fault. also read quote below, covers more on Crowton.

like CLM said in the ole miss game, "I told GC that we should run it but he said he had a idea and then threw 3 straight times", I really think CLM does run the Tigers like a CEO on game day, he lets the OC & DC run their teams and he just make the calls like "4th DOWN GO FOR IT OR PUNT", and calling timeouts  , other than that I think in most cases he lets the Coordinators run their game plan.

Yours was at the end of an on-topic paragraph. Nootch maybe missed it because the clock was ticking down and he was in a hurry to beat the buzzard.

Between Porter going to Memphis and taking some of the coaches with him and the general feeling among the natives, I think most or all of the offensive coaches are gone. Then I think Miles needs to sit down and take a hard look at the talent he has recruited and what their talents are. Then decide on an offense that best uses their talents and then find an OC and position coaches to best utilize that talent. Don't tell JJ or Shep that they all of a sudden have to become pocket passers but if they have to then fricking COACH them to be able to do it. This is how Miles will earn his +$3 million salary effectively.

I will stick to my original opinion and say he will have at least one more year. If things do not turn around offensively next year, he is gone. I will give him a pass on last year because of all the problems we had on offense.

I agree. I think how successful the OC looks also depends on the ability of the players, both physical and mental. People seems to have short memory; when the team was winning with Flynn, GC was thought to be a genius. How quickly the opinions change.......

Do we know this as a FACT? or is it just speculation?

No, I can only go by what I have seen from 07 to now but I do remember them saying in 07 they were going to run the plays the team knew then and GC would take the time to work his offense in, but the play scheme and plays were more like fishers then because this offensive scheme, the way they line up, nothing close to the play scheme and plays they used the last 2 years, last year was the start of transition and this year was just completely horrible.

This is true. It was documented in several interviews in 2007.

JJ doesn't have the "feel for the game" that I like to see in the natural leadership position of QB. I don't think the game has completely slowed down for him yet, hopefully it will come. It does bother me that he holds on to the ball too long and didn't have the presence to recognize he couldn't spike the ball with 1 second on the clock at Ole Miss.

That being said, the blame for this lies with Miles and Crowton. Miles & Crowton have done a poor job recruiting QBs to fit Crowton's offensive style. JJ operated out of the spread at Destrehan, he's comfortable in the shotgun and operating out of the spread. One reason he's looked erratic at times and the offense become so pedestrian is because he's uncomfortable operating this multiple scheme. The quandry now is if Miles and Crowton opt to go to the spread to help JJ, then next year's likely backup Chris Garrett is not a spread QB. So, if JJ were to get hurt and Garrett be called into duty, LSU is in a similar predicament to this year. Then on top of all that is they still can't figure out what to do with Russell Shepard. They obviously don't trust him enough to put him behind center on a regular basis. So, IMO they've done a poor job of recruiting QBs for their system.

Sticking with this theme - Crowton also deserves the lion's share of fault when it comes to being the QB's coach. I've already cited JJ's poor development, but Crowton must shoulder the blame for the complete train wreck that Jarrett Lee has become. If I remember right, Lee was a 4-star recruit out of Texas and unfortunately was thrust into a starting role way too early, but that's Crowton's fault for not developing him and having him ready to go. Everyone knew what a terrible risk Ryan Perrilloux was, so there was no excuse not to have Lee groomed and ready to go. JL would now be better off transferring to Sam Houston State or Texas State and finishing his college career.

If Crowton avoids the axe, do we see a similar offense in 2010? If Miles brings in a whole new offensive staff how long will it take LSU to operate the new system? Tough questions that a coach making nearly $4 million must answer.
