No, quite a bit of truth there actually. What QBs are you claiming? Tim Rattay - Tim was a prodigy much like Terry Bradshaw but I will let you claim that one. John Beck - Played 1.5 seasons for him. Led the Mountain West for two years after Crowton left. And his stats were skewed because BYU was always losing. Dennis Dixon - Had been there 2 years by the time Crowton showed up. How did Kellen Clemens, Brady Leaf and John DuRocker work out? Or Nathan Costa or Cody Kempf? Were they "developed"? Matt Flynn - Seriously? Hell, where has he stayed long enough to develop anyone? Rattay at Tech is the only one. He always ....moves on..... Is it because he is so damn good? That just covers his developmental skills. What's the explanation for our offense being nearly dead last this year? Could it be argued that Crowton has more talent at LSU than the last three schools he coached at? Is it all on the Oline? The Wr's? Youthful Qbs? Miles "holding him back"? Well Mrs. Crowton? What is it?
Paul Singer, Western Illinois (drafted 1989 by Atlanta) Bob Jean, New Hampshire (drafted 1989 by Cincinatti) Glenn Foley, Boston College (drafted 1994 by NY Jets) Tim Rattay, Louisiana Tech (drafted 2000 by San Fransisco) Brandon Doman, BYU (drafted 2002 by San Fransisco) John Beck, BYU (drafted 2007 by Miami) Matt Flynn (drafted 2008 by Green Bay) Reading your comments though, I'm not sure that you understand what "developed" means. It doesn't mean he was there from start to finish, it doesn't mean that they couldn't hold a football properly before they met him and when they left, they were ready for the Pro Bowl. All of the guys listed will credit Crowton with being instrumental in their careers. Anyone who can make it to the NFL is a success story because so few people even get that far. It takes skill and determination just to make it through a workout successfully enough to be drafted, much less training camp and the season. My thoughts on this seasons failures are pretty well documented. The O-Line's performance was miserable at best. What a young QB needs more than anything is protection first and a solid running game second. He had neither, so our offensive output was less than acceptible. You can be stacked with five star receivers and runningbacks six deep, but if the O-Line can't open holes and/or give the QB time to make throws, it doesn't really mean anything. I'd like to know why we didn't see more shotgun offense to get the QB away from the pass rush and have the defense in front of him the entire time and establish a rhythmn, make some plays, etc. I don't think that our offense has developed any real "bread and butter" plays to fall back on, either. I think that Crowton probably jumped ahead with Jefferson (creatively speaking) and Jefferson isn't quite ready for that. Perhaps Jefferson plays differently in games than in practice, which is why Crowton calls the way that he does. Way too many variables for me to make an honest assessment of Crowton without looking like I don't know what I'm talking about, so I choose to not to make such declarative statements like "Crowton needs to go" or "The offense's poor performance is all Crowton's fault and replacing him will turn it around". I look at past seasons at LSU and see that this year looks like an anomoly. I also think that if we want to improve this offense, changing coordinator's and schemes after a year of questionable performance is not going to be the answer. I don't think that possessing sound reasoning skills and failing to go "chicken little" warrants being called his wife, either.
I don't really care what Crowton did with that handful of practice squad QB's you keep mentioning. You can tell by the schemes he used THIS YEAR with THIS QB that he isn't doing a good job of "developing" a QB. Now rattle off some more ten page essays on "QB development" for the last 15 years while I look at out stat sheets for THIS YEAR.
I don't know anyone who is happy with this past season's offensive production, but success is not always measured by statistics as Matt Mauck amd Matt Flynn can tell you. You cannot not tell by this season that he is not doing a good job of developing Jefferson. If you could, then you would have at least attempted an argument instead of 'drive by' posting. Sorry if I don't jump on the latest LSU Fan Kneejerk Bandwagon with you...
Of course not, we just discussing why the offense were ranked 108th  but if Crowton stays, we might be next year
Not going to bother looking up these scrubs because I don't care enough to do it. Your other examples are weak enough. I acknowledged this one. Miss that? Experienced older QB and Crowton was there a year - FAIL Covered this one also - FAIL MONUMENTAL FAIL It's obvious you don't understand it yourself skippy. Who listed these parameters? Only you. And BTW, why didn't you list Dixon? He went pro, and was coached by Crowton. Given your parameters, why are you not giving Crowton credit for him? It's already been shown to be false but it's quite funny that you didn't list him. Really? Find me a quote stating that. I would love to read it. It must exist or you must be related to these guys to know who they think was instrumental in their development. Undoubtedly. What is in question is what that success is a result of. This statement does nothing to prove it was Crowton. As are mine, and most everyone else's. Interesting that you lay no fault at Crowton's feet. They underperformed but were not awful. Some of JJ's sacks were a result of coverage and some were a result of holding the ball too long. Yeah, I wonder who dialed up those plays? Was it the Oline? So Crowton's "development" did not match up with JJ? I see you are getting it. Or perhaps Crowton calls games like a schizophrenic. I am sure there are plenty of people that have said that, but I am not one of them. But I do believe his play calling and lack of development of JJ is the biggest hurdle for LSU. "Development" not only includes teaching in practice or the film room, it also includes protecting your QB by calling plays he can handle. There is something you have seen that tells you JJ can run the option properly? Everyone in the friggin stadium KNOWS he cannot run it. Why doesn't Crowton? How is that "developing" his QB? Simple answer - It does not develop your QB. Maybe Santa will bring you a sense of humor for Christmas.
I'm sorry that you're too lazy to participate in this discussion. That's not may fault because you can't spend ten minutes on Google. I'm not real sure what research is going to tell you differently than what I told you, though. I do see that you're not too lazy to fire off your uneducated opinions, though... Not at all. It's called a list. Had I not included it, you would have made a snarkky remark about hos I left Rattay out of the list. It was one of those 'cant win' scenarios. I'm not sure exactly how this makes a difference. Please explain. How is this a 'fail'? How is this a 'fail'? Yes I did. As an example. To date, no one else has offered anything outside of various "Crowton sucks" and/or "He doesn't develop QBs" quote with absolutely nothing to support the statement outside of the poster's ability to shove their sausage fingers into the keyboard in front of them. I missed him. I missed Clemons, too. I actually remember reading an article recently about Clemons and he gave Crowton a lot of credit. That makes nine QBs sent to the NFL. I don't care enough to do it. :thumb: I don't have quotes. I have spoken directly with three of them. Crowton is known as a guy who has a creative playbook and develops a QB well. You don't get that kind of reputation unless the guys you're coaching support it. I feel pretty good about my position. This is inaccurate. Perhaps yet again you "don't care enough" to look in the very post that you quoted. When LaTech and/or Vandy dominates you, you're awful. After the first season of a raw QBs career is not really when you measure if he's developed or not. That's simply detached from logic. He is better now than he was this time last year, so I'd say that his development is definitely heading in the right direction as would anyone with a grasp of 'right' and 'wrong' or 'wet' and 'dry'. I think that Crowton is calling the option because Jefferson has enough athletic ability to run it. He does not run it well, though. To do that you haave to commit to it and be ready to dish out a little violence of your own, so it's not something that I think we're relying on to extend drives. It does however spread the defense a bit and make them think about Jefferson when he has the ball in his hands. It would be unnecessary if the offense had a running game. So I have given you a list of QBs that Crowton has sent to the NFL. In return, you have your opinion which runs contrary to the facts. MLU > TheDude MLU Abides...
