I agree with everything you wrote, thanks for that. The one thing I would add is that if our yard stick for coaching success is whether or not they beat Saban, we are in for continued disappointment. Saban is great, and we need to give him his due. He might be the best combination of recruiter and head coach ever to be in college FB. He cobbles coaching talent around him like no one else, and he is smart enough to recognize when things aren't working and adapt. Having said all of that, I do think we need to beat him from time to time, but we also need to recognize reality.
I agree with you pretty much 100%. I might differ on how beatable he is. There are only two or three games I can think of where we were just totally out matched by him. I think most of the time, we have been in the game but didn't make a big play towards the end of the game to win (e.g., 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, even 2015). That being said, you just won't find a coach that will beat him often; not even Meyer could.
