I remember about 4 years ago. Katrina was out in the Gulf. I knew she was coming. I knew that it was going to be nasty. Her winds weren't that alarming at the time....just like another Hurricane in the Gulf...but I swear on everything I went outside about 3 days before she hit and it was eerily quiet. There was little wind. It was hot. It was very eerie. Something told me that this was the one. This was gonna be a nasty one. As nasty as my 6th sense was telling me she was going to be....I had no idea how nasty. That is how I feel about this upcoming season. Everyone knows that LSU is coming....but I don't think that anyone realizes how nasty they are gonna be. As I read about Ciron. As I read about JJ. As I read about Dickson, LaFell and Charles Scott....As I hear CLM talk about Chad Jones and the defense on media day......it reminds me of the days before Katrina. No one knows exactly how nasty this team is going to be this year....but I can feel it. It's gonna be ugly for opposing teams. Right now is the calm before the storm, tiger fans. Landfall is projected on September 5th. Batten down the hatches, y'all. It's about to get nasty. :tigereye: THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM
i have been trying so hard to stay calm. not get too worked up about the season so maybe it wont seem quite so long for it to get here. you just undid all of that. i dont know whether to thank you, or slap you. :hihi:
If you've ever seen the movie "Any Given Sunday" there's a lot of that kind of imagery, with the gathering storm clouds, knowing something very nasty is about to be unleashed. This team sounds hungry, which is something I don't think the likes of Florida will have. It's the kind of hunger born out of losses and frustration, and if that can be harnessed then it's very bad news for our opponents.
I am impressed by the attitudes and leadership qualities shown by Ciron Black and others during recent interviews. The first 4 games are easily winable and gives JJ some time to get experience and grow into the position of QB. By the time the Tigers go to Athens they should be ready for their first real test against a Georgia team that is now minus their QB and best running back. Georgia, Florida and Auburn is a brutal stretch but 2 of those games will be in Tiger Stadium. After Louisiana Tech it dosen't get any easier with Alabama on the road followed by Ole Miss, LSU's 2 competitors for the SEC West. I believe that this year's team will get better and better from game to game and by late season will be considered a solid contender for the BCS and SEC titles. I really believe they will be 5-0 going into the Florida game and that the SEC title game will be a rematch that just may determine whether the Tigers or the Gators end up in Pasadena.
I also kind of like the fact that we're picked third in the SEC west by the writers from the SEC media days. Ole Miss is going to choke and we're going to beat Bama. They'll be the ones to feel the pressure of being the favorites and they won't handle it. An underdog LSU team will be in the same position as the "bird" horse that won the derby this year... the other teams in the west will get the bird. Pass the Kool Aid please!!!
not only that they lost massaquoi in the NFL draft that is another top reciever. I think georgia is very beatable.
I agree. I think there's gonna be alot of animosity on the part of the LSU football team. For alot of reasons, things didn't go the way they could have last season. One of if not the biggest, was our QB problems. Injurys and the Perilloux situation agrivated a team that came off a tremendously successful season and the crystal ball. An intersting perspective from Ciron: LSU's Black: Leadership wasn't the problem | shreveporttimes.com | The Times He pretty much confirms what I thought about last year. This year, I think theres gonna be alot of hurting and pissed off teams that have to face an awesome LSU team with a chip on it's collective shoulder.
I still think with Florida going to the pro-style offense and given that they lost some strengths on OL and Percy Harvin, they should also be beatable. at least once, around December :LSU231:
On that note, there was an article about LSU on espn.com in the spring. It wasn't a very long piece but the jest of it was, this team is pissed off. There was a quote from CLM saying that the team had fire like he had never seen and they were anxious to avenge last season. I am not sure but I think it was Lafell that was quoted as saying "we are going back to playing LSU football in '09" . That was a great post CS, way to feed the football jones.:thumb:
