That is a great question, and I would agree w/Mike and Kyle. I could give a rats ass about where Saban left Miami to coach, even though it ended up being ALA. The Saints ended a 40 year curse and won the SB w/DB. That reigns higher. Funny, how decisions made by a QB from Austin playing on a team in San Diego impacts the Saints so significantly. Of course, you could argue Saban leaving Miami to coach ALA costs LSU a NC. The connections and irony nearly seem fictional.
That is, indeed, a fantastic question. I would also say no. Even though I consider myself a bigger LSU fan than Saints fan, it was probably the greatest moment for me as a fan when the Saints won SB XLIV. No DB, no SB. I can't say, for certain, that LSU would've won another title with Saban not in Bama. I'll take the sure thing over a possibility or even a "good chance" any day...and twice on Super Sunday!
That's a good question. Although one can speculate that had Saban never become UA coach, that LSU would have won 2 or more chamionships. So I ask you all would you trade 2 more LSU National Championships for the Saints Super Bowl win? What if it were 3? Now the question is much easier to answer. 3 > 1
My answer is obviously no to the first question. Nor would I change 1 to 1 or probably even 2 to 1. That Saints Super Bowl was a blast and brings back a ton of great memories from the year. It'd be tough to give that one back.
I agree. That whole season was incredibly awesome. It was total euphoria in the dome after the NFC championship game. And, I've seen LSU win 2 national championships in person; which prior to 2003 was something I never thought I'd see. So no, I wouldn't trade it.
