I don't recall a Stuckey's but I can point out the little hall my mom and dad had their wedding reception in. It was the biggest place around in '65. They always got a little too close then. Stuckey's may have been across the street.
So is the one on 190. I don't think there are too many Stuckey's around anymore. Last one I remember was one in Mississippi somewhere about 15 years ago. There was a young guy in there with his girlfriend. She was helping him pick out a Calvin sticker for his truck.
The one on 190 is long since closed. Remember stopping there as a kid. Fact, my old man still has a Stuckey's mug somewhere. Last time I passed they were selling outdoor wood furniture in front. I also remember a pair opposite each other on a highway somewhere maybe on way to Houston. Road memories...
There were Stuckeys on both sides of I 10 between Beaumont and Houston. Stopped there on way to see Astros in the Astrodome.
At my fraternity, we were having a "come as your favorite celebrity" party that week. A buddy of mine came in a wetsuit with goggles, flippers and snorkel. Dude was pretty tacky, but it was a little funny.
I knew what happened, but never really knew the back story. Highly recommend watching it, even if you do know.
