Media and Public scrutiny was 100x worse for Clarett and the Buckeyes. Cecil was mainly a local story and only lasted a few weeks each time he got into another mess. As for talent wasted, I say it is mainly a wash because neither were heading into great situations in the NFL. Collins made it to the Fins and way down the depth chart but at least he was there and had a chance to compete later on. Clarett got fat before the combine and sneaked into the league and that would have not translated well to becoming a great NFL RB.
Clarett was not nearly half the amazing specimen of an RB that Collins was. Collins was on pace to become the most storied running back in LSU history. It's just too damn bad he got injured and had that "idle" mind mentality. Clarett was not necessarily an NFL caliber RB (see his time in the 40), but he was pretty damn good at OSU however. What could have been for Cecil the Diesel? Sad, sad, sad.
I voted for Clarett, b/c I think deep down he wasn't a bad dude (maybe the Ohio State people here can clarify some). Cecil did make it to the NFL and even when he did "get paid", he still was a jackass, so I think Clarett wasted more. B/c although he was a Bronco, briefly, let's face it: he wasn't "himself" during that time.
His 40 time was bad at the combine because he got fat. If he had kept his head on straight then he would have been great.
I voted for Colins. He was OUR TRAGEDY!!! :geauxtige :crystal: :tigerhead :miles: I don't normally go so heavy on the emoticons, but IT'S BCS Championship Week!!! Let's have a little fun!!!
I don't really see how Clarett is a tragedy. He is someone who has constantly seeked the easy way out. I feel no sorrow for him whatsoever. I can't feel sorry for someone who has robbed people at gunpoint and carries around AK-47's http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2545204
Collins is a multiple offender. Anyone who amasses right at 8,000 yards over their high school football career and illegally enters dwellings, twice (For a bitch or not) then goes on to pop a piss test and later burglary in an apartment complex deserves more than someone who accepted a plea deal for charges of committing robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest? Interesting.
They're both criminals. There is nothing tragic about them. The only tragedy is the people that supported them that they let down. They are both a waste of God given talent.
