Is this guy serious? Three letters came to mind when reading this. LOL Check out the guy's page: Patrick Ferlise's Sportswriter Profile | Bleacher Report
Yeah, and guess what, a-hole? Russell was Saban's recruit. In fact, he was one of "Saban's players" that Miles won with, right?
And actually I would think recruits would look at JR as a testament to just how solid a program we have. I mean Miles and his coaches keep this kids nose clean, get him to perform to a level that gets him the 1st overall draft pick, and the NFL can't even get the kid to stay awake during team meetings. That is more of a slight against the NFL than LSU. Epic fail gump boy, go back to your elephant dung pile and try again.
After reading the first post which quoted the article...I thought that this was a recruiter for a competing university. This is why I said, in the CP3 thread that it's ultimately our fault for empowering these talking heads that spout sports dribble on ESPN and other sports shows. This is why I don't have cable or satellite TV in my house anymore. Grantland Rice is rolling over in his grave. Anyone who grew up in the 60's and 70's, watching Howard Cosell, Jim McKay, Kurt Gowdy, Harry Caray and the other real professional sportscasters and announcers gets really sick to their stomach... ...at the "sports spittle" that gets passed of as analysis these days. .
To me, it's stupid to assume that kids are questioning LSU's integrity because of Russell and his status with recent controversy and his new title as one of the biggest busts in NFL history. He's one guy. Did anyone say this about Vince Young when he was bombing out in Tennessee? Did kids look at Oregon after the abysmal failure of Akili Smith and fault the school? What about Lawrence Phillips and Nebraska? It looks like the top writers in the LSU section of Bleacher Report are Bama fans. The Russell article is a garbage article that must have been written when the guy was bored or had to fill a quota. I'm not saying Russell helped LSU in all of this, but to say kids are second guessing if whether or not they want to play for LSU because of his bust status is just silly. And if a kid is in fear of becoming a bust too when he gets to the NFL, then he has no real chance anyway.
i think this guy is just trying to put that fear in recruits minds more than report that it is already there.
