It's not even close to the same. The Chinese have deeply infiltrated the fabric of American government and business as well as the scientific and academic structure of America In a way that the Russians could never do and that we lack the capability of doing the same to any country.
What you just described...the infiltration of government, business and universities...is the very definition of spy work. Where else would they gain the information? I have no doubt that your claim about the Chinese is correct. I also have no doubt that the Russians are doing the same. My point to @Jmg was that he gives a pass to the Russians with his "what-about-ism" about how the US does the same but he doesn't do the same when it comes to the Chinese. We can go back and forth over who does what or the most or blah, blah, blah. Truth be told, neither of us has enough knowledge about the inner workings of the CIA to know who has the biggest stranglehold on America when it comes to the spy community. I would probably agree that the Chinese have the upper hand but only because we handed it to them on a silver platter when we started moving all of our manufacturing overseas and relying on China to knock off American products by basically handing them the rights to Ameican intellectual property righs so that American corporations could save an extra buck by doing so.
the chinese are way more powerful, plus we are utterly and completely integrated with china economically in a way we are not with russia. your phone wasnt made in russia. neither was your computer or the chips that do the computations for the fuel injection in your car. the virus didnt come from russia. russia isnt encroaching on the south china sea. russia doesnt make the NBA and hollywood and our media do its bidding the way china does. we dont have russians working in all our indstries. we do have chinese doing that. we dont have russians deep in every university. we do have chinese. i told the story before about a guy stealing ideas from my dad's specialty chemical company. he wasnt russian. with russia we are discussing only the election. with china i am discussing everything else. of course i do exactly the same. i dont care about chinese manipulation of our election in the exact same way i dont care about russian interference. its not about election interference. our elections are fine. your liberal friends even admit this, provided dems win. within seconds they declared bidens election to the the fairest event that ever existed. they only pretended trump was elected by russians because they are liars.
all of this is exactly correct. we cant put american kids in chinese universities/media/govt/science and create an army of influence. partially because chinese are racist and dont allow westerners to do anything in china except teach english.
I don't have to be James Bond to see a lot of Chinese people in my day to day encounters but I have hardly ever met any Russians.
