Very reasoned comment. Unfortunately the leftist democrats were the ones most in favor of and pushing for the shutdown.
and context must be applied. wasn't trump 'following the science" with covid would 'disappear' by easter? remember 15 days to stop the spread? https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/16/cov...e-spread-pledge-shows-how-little-we-knew.html A year later, Trump’s ’15 days to slow the spread’ campaign shows how little we knew about Covid Published Tue, Mar 16 20217:36 AM EDTUpdated Tue, Mar 16 202112:31 PM EDT ...“If everyone makes this change or these critical changes and sacrifices now, we will rally together as one nation and we will defeat the virus and we’re going to have a big celebration all together,” Trump said at a White House press briefing on March 16, 2020, where he also announced the first vaccine candidate entering phase 1 clinical trials. “With several of weeks of focused action we can turn the tide and turn it quickly.” A look back at the first coronavirus guidelines issued by the federal government demonstrates just how little was known at the time about the virus that has sickened almost 30 million Americans and killed at least 535,000 in the U.S....
I see you trying to change Rexies mind. I stopped trying there is no rational mind in his head to change, nothing in there.
As a matter of fact the three chief members lost a recall vote yesterday and now they are jobless. They tried to blame the elite conservative political machine but it was establishment liberals vs progressive liberals at the polls. San Fran parents know the difference between renaming schools vs reopening schools. Talk about misplaced priorities. They lost by a 70% margin. Even San Fran mayor wanted them gone. One of them is a two time loser. Last year VP of the Board, Alison Collins, filed an $87 milli lawsuit against the school board that a federal judge dismissed for lack of merit. The school board voted to strip her of her VP title after she went on a twitter rant trying to convince Asian Americans that they were discriminated against and needed to join the black and brown band wagon that screams 'hate whitey!' She even tried to convince Asian Americans that their being able to succeed in America a false belief. She said, "Do they think they won't be deported? profiled? beaten? Being a house n****r is still being a n****r. You're still considered "the help." I have been a white minority in a majority Indian / Asian community for the past 10 years. They are mostly either FOBs or 2nd generation. They came from a shit place and are highly motivated to succeed. They accept nothing less for their kids. They kids are at the top of the class. IT, healthcare, and programming are their favorite jobs. They don't cry about being held back because they just move forward.
how can we make other marginalized groups act this way? can we change the culture of the less-successful groups? is it possible that different human groups/populations are different by nature and not just by nurture? maybe culture is a reflection of nature. meaning the qualities we see in certain culture. for example reverence for parents in asian culture, maybe thats just the way they are, born that way.
I believe that nature vs nurture (or motivation vs lack of motivation) exists across all cultures. We get the most highly motivated people wanting to live here because they have opportunity and reward here. Reward is a necessary end for motivation. I am an engineer and I work with more African engineers that I do with African American engineers. My home was built by Mexican immigrants not Americans. When I look up doctors in my health plan, they mostly have Indian or East Asian surnames. It doesn't add up when liberals bitch about lack of opportunities today. Who is going to do the hard work? It is the work that needs to be put into achieving that is lacking. What I am trying to say is maybe as American born, we lack the motivation that these people have when they get here. It is part of the answer anyway.
african immigrants are so successful it really knocks down the idea that skin color closes doors of opportunity. they look just like ADOS (american descendants of slaves) blacks but succeed so much more. the stumbling blocks american blacks say are hurting them, why dont those barriers stop the ghanians and cameroonians? why cant we make american blacks succeed like nigerian immigrants? a racist might point out that blacks are wildly variant and one african tribe is different to another the same way an inuit is different than a scotman. igbos and zulus are different. massaii and hausa, and kikuyu, all very different in culture and success and motivation etc. nevermind all people are identical in everything and any variation is cutlural, and all negative cultural attributes were caused by colonialization.
