The 1987 Twins is considered one of the best teams ever. They were barely above .5500 during the season. Won it all. Here is a statement applied to another league that every one has been hearing. How in the NFL can a non conference champ be Super bowl champs ( World Champs)? Now that is a ridiculous statement. So in any league the team playing the best football is different every week. They may not even be rank. Seems division 1 needs new system. Take it out of the hands of writers, most who have never been on any playing field, but consider themselves experts.:miles::crystal:
not interested in a playoff. teams like Pitt or Syracuse do not deserve a shot at the title this year. under any circumstances. ever.
Do you think they would win? If they are not that good they still won't make it to the top. This is AP voter thinking! They are the ones that split a championship remember bcause of how they felt about a team in Baton Rouge!
I LOVE college football's regular season. Every game counts. Every game is important. Rivalries are just that -RIVALS. There is so much more to college football than just "THE BCS NCG". You've got Auburn vs Alabama, UT vs Oklahoma, Michigan-Ohio State. You've got Tiger Stadium, The Swamp, 100,000 + people at Penn State or Tennessee. You've got the bands, student sections, traditions, etc. A playoff system will totally diminish the meaning of the regular season.
let me rephrase. a team whose won loss record is hovering just above .500 in mid-november should not be rewarded with an opportunity to win a national title. i want my champ to be the team that was best for the ENTIRE season. not simply the best over a 3 week stretch in December/January. at the moment, college football is the only sport in America that see's it that way. which is one of the many reasons i prefer it to every other option out there.
Definitely need a playoff that is small enough not to screw up the regular season and big enough to encompass all the most deserving teams. Somewhere between 4 and 8. Autobids for conference champs, but only champs rated high enough in the BCS rankings.
the only good playoff system is the top 8 ranked teams and even that sucks. i'm one of the few who like the BCS and more times than not they get it right. There are only 2 teams that you can make a case for not being allowed to be in the BCSNCG Oklahoma instead of USC - 2003 Oklahoma instead of Auburn - 2004 Every other year has gotten it right.
