Anyone watching the games tonight on Opening Night? Spurs just beat Portland and I'm looking forward to watching Kobe beat clair's Rockets... Going to Hornets opening night tomorrow too..
I hate Houston just because their in the Hornets' division... so I cheer for LA...though I hate LA the most when they are playing anyone else...
I watched the first half and then had to call it a night. Disappointing since I've been waiting for the season to start! Nice to see the Rockets take care of business against the Kobes. I honestly cannot figure out how anyone would say that Kobe isn't the best in the league. Unfortunately for him, if he's traded to Chicago, it'll likely be a similar situation.
Got a new wallpaper from this game. The best in the game against one of the guys that plays the "right way." Love some Kobe and Battier.
Nice to see Kobe get dissed by the Laker crowd last night. No Limit, I know we have gone back and forth about Kobe being the best player but I guess we define the best in different ways. I will say Kobe is the best pure basketball player in the league. However, how many 40 point or more games can he have and still lose. To me the definition of the greatest is someone who is clutch like Kobe but makes everyone around them better (not Kobe). He also has to have leadership abilities and that doesnt mean running down the floor and not passing to the open man down the court and them pulling up a fade away 3. I am sure our opinions will still differ anyways.
Of course we'll differ. It's impossible to evaluate Kobe in those terms, since he's got Odom and garbage for teammates. He's not a point guard either, which makes his role a bit different. He should try to maximize the trips down the court in which his team scores. Most of the time, that means him forcing a 45% shot, as opposed to dishing it a 33% dope of a teammate. A strong argument can be made that Tim Duncan is the best overall in the league, and I wouldn't put up much of a fight. Of course, his job is quite a bit easier with two other All-Stars on the team (including a Frenchie point guard that's just about the best in the league, much to my chagrin), and legit role players.
I highly disagree that Kobe doesnt make his teammates better. Luke Walton still has a job for God's sake! Kobe gives them the opportunity early and if they screw it up he takes over. Shot attempts are irrelevant, just have to evaluate his FG percentage.
I bet KG gives Kobe a run for the title of "best player" this season. KG will be an effin beast on the court this year.
I'm holding judgment on Boston...too many people need the ball...Now I'll probably be wrong but I'm not ready to crown them.
