    two interesting things about that.

First, Ole Miss is one of those schools that claims 100% of the championships given to them by official NCAA-recognized selectors:

    1959
    Ole Miss: Berryman, Dunkel, Sagarin*
Syracuse: AP, Billingsley, Boand, DeVold, FB News, Football Re search, FW, Helms, Litkenhous, National Championship Foun dation, NFF, Poling, Sagarin (ELO-Chess)*, UPI, Williamson

    1960
Iowa: Berryman, Boand, Litkenhous, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELOChess)
Minnesota: AP, FB News, NFF, UPI
Ole Miss: Billingsley, DeVold, Dunkel, Football Research, FW, Na tional Championship Foundation, Williamson
    Missouri: Poling
    Washington: Helms

    1962
    LSU: Berryman*
Southern California: AP, Berryman*, DeVold, Dunkel, FB News, Foot ball Research, FW, Helms, National Cham pi onship Foundation, NFF, Poling, UPI, Williamson
Ole Miss: Billingsley, Litkenhous, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELOChess)

Second, the coaches trophy (which they picture there in that pic) has been awarded since 1986 (Since 1986, the winner of the UPI or USA Today Coaches’ Poll has received the Coaches' Trophy). and although the AFCA does allow schools that won the UPI/Coaches Poll prior to 1986 to order themselves a coaches trophy, OLE MISS NEVER WON A UPI NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

For example, here are Florida State's two coaches trophies awarded to FSU in 1993 and 1999 (the BCS started in 1998)

Much like Ole Miss claiming a portion of the divisional championship in 2003, the trophies pictures are from 2003-2005—the years ADT sponsored the trophy. That's one of the reasons I brought that tweet over here—LSU won the Coaches Trophy in 2003.

The crystal football displayed in the Bryant Museum for the 1992 season was sponsored by McDonalds.

The ones you've pictured here for Florida State aren't part of McDonalds. I know the first one was sponsored by Sears because I recall the change. I don't know when Sears pulled their sponsorship.

To be more specific the NCAA recognizes almost 20 different rating systems as recognized major selectors in college football in 2003. LSU was determined #1 by a majority of them. AP was one of 1 of only 7 that didn't have LSU as #1. Given that the AP backed out of the BCS which was agreed to by all conferences makes them about as relevant as the other 17 recognized major selectors by the NCAA. BCS was most relevant given they used many of the NCAA recognized selectors as a part of the BCS formula.

I wasn't saying they backed out in 2004. Just that the AP was not part of the BCS in 2003 but were previously a part of the formula.

AP is very influential but just wasn't a part of the most significant and influential rating system in 2003 which consisting of a number of NCAA major selectors.

NCAA record books which has been mentioned here does not equal the NCAA website. Record books have no champions listed other than for individual conferences.

That tweet was deleted. Around 30 minutes after that the following was put in its place with another slogan placed under the trophies. You'll also notice that in the first tweet the BCS logo was photoshopped out of the picture. In the second, it's back up.

"It only posted the Ole Miss pic, because you still continue to deny that there are Co-Divisional Champs in the SEC, and you are clearly in the wrong."

    No. You clearly disagree.

We can set aside your using the banner as your proof of such a thing existed. Ole Miss went to the point of having a trophy made claiming the very same thing. Just because they claim it and went to the point of having banners and trophies made doesn't give it veracity.

The fact you continue baffles me. Outside of the points I've listed why hasn't this one, simple issue been addressed? Ole Miss lost to LSU in the regular season. How can there be "co-anything" when they lost?

Believe what you will. I find it of particular interest that Florida doesn't claim a co-divisional championship last season, Alabama doesn't in 2011, Georgia doesn't in 2007, and even Auburn doesn't claim one for 2005—the same Auburn who claims a national title in '93 when FSU was an undisputed champ.

I certainly never dreamed I'd be defending a divisional crown won by LSU with an LSU fan.

A small addition to the Ole Miss theme here: :D

We have the banner, then the BCS trophies, and now coaches pointing to NFL players from Ole Miss they never coached as well.

...just another example of a school not having anything to point to and making a decision to just make some up.

I think he is speaking more to the spirit of the law while you are referring to the letter of the law. Yes, the rules of the SEC do indeed state "all teams tied for first in the division are declared co-champions." But what kind of nit wit goes out and gets a freaking banner made to proclaim it? Might as well get one saying you kissed your first cousin.

2011...not sure what I was thinking there. Hell, I can only blame it on sleep deprivation...didn't grab a nap before heading to work last night...caught up in the tornado coverage.

"Avoid embarrassing myself?" Please. This is a message forum with conversations about football. Making a mistake isn't the least bit embarrassing. If making a mistake in a conversation about football leads to one being embarrassed they are far too emotionally involved.

That's the first time I've ever seen the "co-champions" phrase used in an SEC release...and there aren't that many I've missed.

Ole Piss is so desperate for something to hang their hats on they needed to. They haven't been leaders in SEC football since the 1960s.
