Well ... the Chargers weren't slouches on defenses and Baltimore definitely had the D.

But it does say, this guy knows how to get points scored.

I went and looked at a few OC, Charlie Weis with the Pats. Everyone knows about their defense. Cam's resume is one of the better I've seen. Go and look at the Head Coaching hires done in the SEC (Ark, Auburn and Tenn), which one of these HC's has a better resume that Cam?

I like Cam's resume too but now it is time to measure by results. I hope to see improvement in the O this year though it is difficult to know if Mett has what it takes upstairs to truly excel. I do expect to see a strong positive trend over the next 2-3 years to where the O truly dictates what it does. We need to see key success in red zone production and key measures that show offensive competence.
I don't care where we rank in the different metrics but expect the O performs efficiently and shows it can adjust and take advantage of its strengths and the opposing Ds weakness. If that is done the metrics will take care of themselves.

Everything I've seen since Cam has been involved, has been nothing but a positive. Everyone from QB, WR, TE and RB's have all taken a step forward. Remember, Cam has spent time with WR's over his coaching tenure. He likes the TE's involved. RB's out of the backfield. Mismatches, too many things this offense can and will use.

I'm not trying to resurrect this subject, but when I saw this tweet by Hugh Freeze today this was the first thing that came to mind.

It's a perfect compliment to the banner.

i said the NCAA doesn't award an NCAA trophy and name a national champs themselves, instead, they recognize official national champion selectors that do name national champs. it's just like with All-Americans, the NCAA doesn't name All-Americans, but the NCAA recognizes official All American selectors

    2012 NCAA FOOTBALL RECORDS (PDF)

    p78
    Consensus National Champions
    ...
    2003
    LSU (NFF, USA/ESPN)
    Southern California (AP, FWAA)

    p67
National Champion Major Selectors (1869 to Present)
The criteria for being included in this historical list of poll selectors is that the poll be national in scope,
either through distribution in newspaper, television, radio and/or computer online. The list includes both
former selectors, who were instrumental in the sport of college football, and selectors presently among the
    Bowl Championship Series (BCS) selectors.
    ...
Associated Press (1936-present), the first major nationwide
poll for ranking college football teams was voted on
by sportswriters and broadcasters. It continues to this day
and is probably the most well-known and widely circulated
among all of history’s polls. The Associated Press annual
national champions were awarded the Williams Trophy
and the Reverend J. Hugh O’Donnell Trophy. In 1947, Notre
Dame retired the Williams Trophy (named after Henry L.
Williams, Minnesota coach, and sponsored by the M Club of
Minnesota). In 1956, Oklahoma retired the O’Donnell Trophy
(named for Notre Dame’s president and sponsored by Notre
Dame alumni). Beginning with the 1957 season, the award
was known as the AP Trophy, and since 1983, has been
known as the Paul “Bear” Bryant Trophy.

    Major Selectors Since 1936

    read the BCS website: www.bcsfootball.org

the agreement was the five BCS games, with the winner of the BCS title game being awarded #1 in the coaches poll. and yes, everybody lived up to that agreement in 2003, which is why we didn't get #1 USC vs #2 LSU, and why the coaches had to vote LSU #1 despite how they had USC #1 going into the game
nobody agreed to do away with the AP Poll, in fact, the BCS website itself uses the AP Poll right there on it's front page as one of the ways to gauge it's own success

yes, the NCAA recognizes official selecting organizations. see page 69 of the 2012 NCAA record book under "National Champion Major Selectors (1869 to Present)" and page 75, "Major Selectors Since 1936"

but yes, once we see the NCAA trophy being given in D1 football, that will likely signal the end of the AP trophy and coaches trophy being the two main selectors of the national champs

also, note that the BCS itself says "The BCS is not an entity. Instead, it is an event...The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game showcase of college football."

As real as it can get.

Some of the promotional ideas coming out of schools are entertaining, some down right shocking.

I came very close to attending Ga Tech. While it is very unlikely it would change my football allegiance, I'm sure I would have been a fan of the schools sports programs.

But, after seeing this from their Ath. Dept., would that allegiance have lasted?
