As we approach the 241st year since the Declaration of Independence was proclaimed. We've seen the highest and lowest of times but our country has alway surmounted its challenges and become the greatest country of the modern era ....truly that shining beacon on the hill. We should reflect on the brilliance and strength of that small group of white European men who forged such a wonderful country and thank our blessings for them and our other leaders throughout the years. As Benjamin Franklin said after the Constitutional convention ended and a Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." It takes work and good will. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were political enemies yet served together and laid a strong foundation for us to build on. These great men have a lot to teach us. It has the feeling of a birthday party for a very old person. You know like it may be the last one you celebrate. This country is so fragile and has become a nation of pussies. You know I read that during Nixon's presidency there were hundred of bombings in the US, and even thousands more bomb threats. And here we are.... we can't even deal with shootings without flipping our wigs. The days of finding common ground with your political rival are over. The days of win at all cost are here.
