So who does everyone think drew that play up? Miles, Crowton, Gonzales? Only reason I put Gonzales in the mix is because that looked like something Florida would have run with Tebow and Hernandez. To be honest, I have no idea who drew that one up, but it was beautiful. Deangelo Peterson had a good game, we need him to keep getting better because he is a weapon.
It was one of THE MOST brilliant plays I've ever seen, given the circumstances, especially. Seriously.
The timing was perfect... 4th and 1 and LSU's driving and needing points. We're in the Power I with Ridley in the back. The whole world is expecting power football with Ridley up the gut, mano-e-mano. Power vs Power. REVERSE!!! And 11 Red jerseys were all going towards Ridley. JJ threw a nice block downfield. Awesome play. Awesome timing. Awesome execution.
There's no way to tell. Probably resulted from a meeting weeks before, or someone just blurted it out at practice and they decided to try it. The bigger question is who had the balls to call it in that situation ... And that person would be Coach Miles.
I think Gonzales drew it up. He has had his hand in the offense as of late and has been really helpful recognizing play opportunities during the game. Such as defensive personal. Also had a hand in the hurry up offense play calls. I don't remember seeing any hurry up offense before this game. This play was drawn up 2 weeks ago and Miles told Deangelo on the bus before the game they were running it, so be ready.
Great play all the way around. JJ sacrificing the body with a great block. Anyone who doubted whether JJ is a team player ought to look at that again. In fact, see the following article: Enigmatic Miles dines on turf, Tide - College Football - Rivals.com. In particular: Here’s the thing: Peterson is a 6-foot-4, 243-pound tight end, and the play called for Jefferson to toss the ball to running back Stevan Ridley and for Peterson to swoop left, take a pitch from Ridley and cut it upfield. He did, and with Jefferson leading the way – knowing the play would be called, he consulted with offensive linemen this week to learn proper blocking technique – Peterson scampered 23 yards, to the 3-yard line, and set up a Ridley touchdown. :geauxtige
I thought Sean Payton called the play in the first game of the year for TE Jimmy Graham with limited success.
