That was really a shame.

    Mettenburger .... on fire.
    WR's .. on fire

    Defense .. on fire.

CLM .... not so much. Practically gave the game away.

Agree, CLM cost us a victory with yet again poor game coaching. Your team wins EVERY statistic in the game and you lose it for them because you are stupid. NOBODY in their right mind would go for a fake field goal on 4th and 12 when the other team is playing a safe defense. When you see that defense then well coached teams are taught that the fake is called off and you try the field goal.

If he kicks the two field goals instead of running the fake and going for it on 4th down we have a shot at SEC Champs and possibly a national championship shot.

Say what you want about field goals, but we won at Bama last year with 3 field goals, and Bama beat us in the BCS by kicking 5. NEVER leave points on the field.

I just feel bad for the players. CLM puts #2 in the nation on the SEC Championship rings and then costs them a shot at defending their title.

Let's not go crazy pointing the fingers at CLM. The 1st half decisions on the FGs were terrible, no doubt. But Mett and the receivers did not give us a great game....they gave us a great second half. The first half was much of the same thing we've seen all season, with poor execution leading to missed opportunities.

I got to put this one on Chavis. As great is he is, that last series was his worst of the year. We'd shut them down after half time playing tight man to man coverage, then on that last series, he's scared to give up the big play and switches to soft zone. After getting huge chunks on the first 3 plays, he gets over agressive and blitzes and gets burned. When I saw the blitz, I KNEW Bama was going to run that screen and was hoping we were only 'showing' blitz to bait McCarron into throwing it. Cudda, Shudda, Wudda.

i don't understand the last 3rd down play with spencer ware taking the snap. that didn't look good at any point of the play.

Agree, that was a lousy call (actually on 4th and 2). The worst thing about it was the formation looked almost like "victory." There was absolutely nothing they could have run from that formation but the quarterback sneak.

I was hoping for a long snap to the back and watch him take off for the corner... they had the straight up run shut down.

Did anybody catch the Alabama coach's interview on the Gameday set after the game? He talked about how they couldn't do anything on us the entire 2nd half, but while studying film on us, they discovered a tendency in our 2 minute defense and got that exact look on the last series and that's what enabled them to drive down and score so quickly.

First off, I'm glad he admitted that, so hopefully we learn from it. Secondly, I think it's time for a little self scouting and changing of defensive tendencies.

Gotta think we don't do this anymore so late when the outcome is still in the balance. We got away with it twice before to make two games closer than they were although we were up by more than a TD in those games. Tonight it bit us in the arse when there was no margin for error. So frustrating to lose that way.

I'm betting Les hasn't been watching "Gameday" tonight. Hopefully someone will point this out to him.
