Yes, he needed to go last year, but why would he quit when he would get millions of dollars if he didn't? Would YOU just give up a buy-out of that caliber? I know you didn't like Miles, but he is a good man, and he deserves an appreciation thread. If you hate him so much you can't be gracious in this thread, post in one of the other dozen on the page where you can crap all over him.
No doubt it was time, just damned sad that it had to come to a mid-season firing. Hate that these names of current coaches are starting to pop up already. Does anyone believe Tom Herman, whether he's interested or not, is going to come out at this point and say he's interested?
No, of course he won't. I hope we didn't screw ourselves over by how soon we did this. That's what scares me about how wide open and available Briles is.
If LSU hires Briles then they've just hit the fast forward button on the destruction of LSU football.
I didn't say he would have / should have quit last year. I said I'd have respected him more if he did. Spurrier walked off into the sunset when his time was done, midway through the season, leaving money on the table. I've always said he was a good man. Doesn't mean he didn't fuck us. I could take the high road and talk about bittersweet fond memories, but that's not the case. I'm still pissed he threw away another season - Fournette's last - because he is so stubborn and unable to adapt. As far as posting goes, sorry mom but I'm all grown. I'll post where I like.
Les Miles is a good man. History will show him as a significant part of LSU's glory years. Whether LSU "booms or busts" going forward won't change his contribution to the cause.
There will be no hire or anyone before the end of the season. If there is it will be some mid level coach who would be willing to leave at mid season and none of us want. Or Briles but I don't see that happening. All top level coaches know how the game is played. Say they haven't been contacted and say they are happy where they are and say they have a job to do coaching their young men for the next game. And then at the end of the season - BOOM! One of those coaches who expressed no interest will be hired. Let it be Tom Herman
