It was time. It may take time to realize it, but we had a SEC legend. I'll take his first eight seasons against just about anyone else's (and definitely over any other modern LSU coach. By a mile). I'll never forget how fun it was to be regularly in the Top 5. How many times CBS took an LSU game as its choice for best SEC game. How many times my friends texted me about some unbelievable LSU last minute win. Most of the fanbases in CFB would kill for the kinds of teams, triumphs and moments we've enjoyed and probably taken for granted since 2005. I want to thank Les for raising the profile of Tiger football. For winning without getting the program in trouble, or being a mendacious asshole. Did the game pass him by? Yeah, probably. It rarely ends on one's own terms in this profession. Best of luck going forward. Goddamn, that was fun.
I loved Les Miles. It was time for him to go. I hate to say that game has passed anyone by, but that seems to be exactly what happened. Time will be kind to him, I think. He is currently one of only three LSU football coaches with a national championship. And he will certainly never be forgotten.
Well said. Too many have blanked out every thing he did well because of the 2012 game that shall not be mentioned. It was past time and I'm glad they had the guts to do it now. However he deserves our respect, thanks and fond memories he created and owns.
Even though he's fired and I should take the high road, I'm still pissed as hell at the stupid fucker. Great man, dumbass coach.
Have a kleenex and wipe away those got dam tears. There' s no crying on this forum. Today is a good day. Rejoice and be happy.
Per capita Louisians has the best high school football talent in the country. With a new coach you will see better play and us lock down the recruiting from other schools in our own state. We need an offensive guru who can get the most out of his players. Not a players coach but the fire that once was under Saban. Les Miled inherited that mind set with players like Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn with that 2007 team. 2011 team was all defense with Chavis. I knew when chavis left that was all but over for Miles. His inability to adapt to offensive play calling may have been his demise. Maybe he'll end up somewhere in the B1G at school like Maryland.
Yes the king is dead, long live the new king.......as the English say. However that doesn't mean we don't remember the past king with fondness. Everyone who has posted good memories has said it was time for him to go. Only a true asshat would piss on a dead man's grave.
I've been watching LSU since the early 70's and Les is my favorite of all our coaches to date. I wish our admin had the class he showed during his time with us. I would have liked to see him go out in style, but it was not to be. Thank you Coach Les Miles for bringing honor to our school and community. We wish you the best and you'll forever be a Tiger!!!
