I'm thinking with hindsight in this, however we had timeouts and I do wish they would have used them, especially when Peterson went down. I didn't think, and the time, that we could cover them without him on the field. I also thought with the way that they were getting down the field at will we needed a timeout anyway. However, I can understand not wanting to give the offense time to pick out a special play and force them to call it as they were. I only know now that it worked out. If it didn't, obviously I would be POed that we left with timeouts still to use.
You obviously have a short memory... go re-watch the Miss St and UGA games last year. We pulled those out at the last second due to some heroics. Both times we let those teams almost beat us after we had the game in hand. We let the Ole Miss game slip by, but we won against Miss St and UGA. Our players did not lay down last year and they did not last night. They fought.
On the other hand, we were all here last year saying much the same thing after a lackluster victory over Washington. And we ended up with 9 wins and a January bowl game. Opening games are often sloppy and this was not the usual cupcake opponent.
Last year was unsatisfactory. 9 wins and a low quality bowl game that we lost cannot satisfy LSU fans, coaches, staff, and the alumni supporters. This was a cupcake opponet. 20 starters side-lined due to academic violations and other NCAA problems. The entire UNC defense was second-team. We couldn't score in the second half against the second team. Are you kidding me, sloppy?? Jefferson needs to see the field and come off his reads quicker and make better decisions with the ball. We need to hold on to the ball and play tougher up the middle. Les Miles has gotta go. He reminds me too much of Bum Phillips now.
Louisiana Monroe is a cupcake opponent. UNC is a ranked team that will go to a bowl game this year. No, it wasn't. They had a couple of All-Conference starting linebackers that ate our lunch all night.
People are blind. I thought I was the only one who saw those LB's Lighting our players up. Though only TF' members think we played a high school JV incapable of competition...
Twenty? Try 8, while we have 4 starters out with injury, and their reserves were older than most of our starters. I'm not happy with how last night went down, but let's not lie about what the situation actually was.
