agreed. I don't understand why we started pulling people in the 3rd. I also don't understand why we are in game 1 and we have people cramping. WTF is that? Are we not in shape and ready to play?
I'm not as down on the team as most will be, though I can certainly understand the frustration. A) That 3rd down call where JJ ran backwards should have never been called. It should have been a run up the middle to set up a FG and put us ahead where the game would have never been that close. B) Turnovers, specifically fumbles. That's not on the coaches, that's on the player. Of course, he has to know that it's 2 hands on the ball once you get a 1st down. But if you're telling me that can't be fixed, I don't believe you. It's easy fixes that put the game away. There's the good, too. It's not as easy to see now. A) We have athletes that 95% of teams in the country can't match. B) We were tested 1000x harder than any team in the country this week. Pitt/Utah was the only other game of this magnitude. This win gives valuable experience to the players. C) To go along with that point, LSU lost this game last year. This year we were close(and unreasonably so), but we were on the correct side of the equation.
Well only 2 people cramped, that I saw, both on D, which played almost all of the game, like usual...So makes sense, lol.
I forgot. You are new around here. Get used to this: "We play not to lose." Oh, yeah and "3rd and 2nd and Chavis."
Cramps happened with a lot of teams today. There's no way you can plan for a game like that and the stresses that it required. I do with they would have called some timeouts, though.
Well, yes, I do. I chalked the debacle that was '08 up to a crappy QB situation. Oh, wait, it still isn't much better. I don't think we were worse last year than in '08, but we're not striking fear into the hearts of opponents, and we won't if tonight is truly any indication. We had UNC back on their heels and let them back into the game. I remember wondering wth they were doing taking out our starting defense in the 1st series of the 2nd half. Why? It's little things like that which kept the door open.
