At 13 points, saving your best remaining pitcher is kinda like taking ol yella out back and shooting him.
runs* and we didn’t save anyone. we threw literally everybody. and they all gave up multiple runs. every. single. one. but some here think we had some magical pitcher somewhere that would have held Tenn scoreless somehow.
LSU went 1-8 to start the sec against Tenn, Vandy, and MooU.. all 3 are still playing ball. everything needed to go our way last weekend and it just didn't.... no magic bullets, potions, or pitchers was going to change the outcome
I disagree. Game 1 was winnable. Hilliard should NOT have been pulled as early as he did and a few other costly coaching decisions. Whether or not enough to win the series is for sure debate-able, but coaching seemed to have been our biggest issue this series. The goal was to get to a game 3 and throw the kitchen sink. We had a chance game 1 and Pawl fucked it all up.
actually, the Saturday game was very winnable. but by us blowing that one it made Sunday a desperation game. don’t choke on Saturday, then once Sunday got out of hand, just toss a back of bullpen guy to eat up innings. then Monday it’s all hands on deck in the finale.
He never got in trouble and with all the injuries we always have, we didn’t really have a choice. Paw was being cute and it cost us.
Ultimately we were boned when marceaux didn’t have it, but throwing in unproven middle relievers damn sure didn’t work. Ultimately, Maineri wasn’t getting out of Tennessee. Perfect end to the season.
