Sounds like he should fit right in:hihi:    Hopefully he won't punch anyone in the chops!:dis:  U have to have a sense of humor in todays world!:thumb:
The read in Lubbock is that both sides knew it was not a good fit and just decided to part ways. Players could have asked that Martin be released because they knew it was not a good fit and they liked Martin. Why force a round peg into a square hole? It takes energy away from what the team is trying to accomplish. Knight is tough, but any successful coach is. He isn't the monster that a lot of people believe, but that image sells.
I'm sure there was, like all deals, two sides of the story. Certainly some of the remarks made by Bobby Knight in the Martin departure were very "PC" and so I'm sure there was element of both sides wanting to part for various reasons. What's interesting is that now that LSU has been on the RECEIVING end of two very significant transfers (after what I'd say were a couple of significant recent departures, Koundjia and Neltner), I'd wonder if the same people that are b*tching that CJB is scaring off players are now saying "why take these guys", "there must be something wrong with these guys," or "I'd rather not have these guys." Whatever the case, Terry Martin Jr. was an All-state MVP in his Sr. year, a top 60 or 80 player in the country his sr. year, and a kid that certainly a lot of programs wanted. I'm not about to judge kid based upon what ESPN said about him until I see him playing in purple n gold. I liked what I read from him today in the Advocate, and think he certainly has the potential to help this team in a big way. Now, we look forward to LSU landing a key PG recruit, and I think we are set for a many years to come... :geauxtige Perhaps we can start to become a guard oriented program afterall? For those that would say we should...(like the writer from CBS sportsline?) LSU just dominated one of the SEC's hottest "guard" oriented teams in Tennessee, with rebounds, defense and Davis and Tyrus down low and our "lack of guards". Now, with outside shooting and perimeter defense to match? Wow, exciting things are on the horizon...
So, this is the fitting end to a nice thread about Terry Martin Jr. Welcome to Tiger country, Terry! You made the right decision. :geauxtige http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/2217157.html Now, it's interesting who the Tigers seem to be after next year. Several large out of state players from GA and Texas along with a few strong LA candidates. Although it appears again the best rated LA point guard is headed elsewhere...
