So, big day for the Martin family... Terry is expected to choose schools as soon as today and it's supposedly between the Tigers and ULM. Today's Monroe article is certainly making the emotional, hometown plea... http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060113/SPORTS/601130345/1006 Obviously, they're trying play up the "be a big fish in a small pond" theory. But, seriously, he's just as needed within the context of the big pond. He could be a big fish in a big pond at LSU, and being able to play with the likes of Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas and Tasmin is only going to help him at the next level. Not to mention you've got a little bit of a NBA connection with Shaq', Stro', Dupree, J. Smith, B. Bass, etc., at LSU. I don't think him going to LSU is going to hurt his career opportunities... Anyone know how his visit went? :geauxtige
In re: to the article TGer'nHornLand just posted. Wow. Did not realize that... That's tough to overcome for John Brady in recruiting this kid. And jeezus is this paper trying to sell ULM hard on Martin!
Looks like a DONE DEAL!!!! Martin to LSU! http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060113/NEWS01/60113009
:geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige LSU! LSU! LSU! :bball: :bball: :bball: Sure does make me feel more comfortable for next season with guards. Mason, Temple, Voogd, Minor.. Then we get Martin just in time for SEC play. Wonder if this is really true:
That is fantastic! I think this pick up is going to be very significant in ways beyond the court and in the standings. On the court we get a much needed big, versatile guard that can play both guard positions, is known for his ability to create, and shoot the three, and whom can also play swing forward. Plus, when you consider that Tack still has things to prove once he comes back, Temple's offense needs work, and Voogd hasn't necessarily shown yet that he's ready to play a lot of minutes, Terry Martin adds a WHOLE lot to a relatively thin backcourt. Off the court, I can help but feel that this some reassurance to the state of LA that wheels aren't off on the LSU basketball program. Martin is probably the first non-Baton Rouge All-State/MVP type prospect that we've gotten in the purple n' gold in a long time, which is going to help recruiting next year, a critical year for reloading. Can't wait to see both D.Mason and T.Martin play next season! :geauxtige
Looks like next season could be very exciting, nice pickup for Brady. I will be pumped for next season now! I'm not saying this season isn't going to be good but the depth bug usually gets us every year the last 4 years or so. We are either too young or tired seems like. Last year that seemed to be the exception but please understand I didn't keep up with sports much from February until May because of health concerns over my daughter, that will always bring u back to reality!
Just said on ESPN that the playes went to coach Knight and recommended Martin be tossed off the team he was such a disruption. If we weren't desparate for G play, I'd rather he not be on the team.
