Sorry if this has been posted. Mike Ferrell on Rivals Radio (7/31/08) said McFarland is possibile to LSU, but thinks it's more an Texas/OU battle, thinks he won't leave Big 12 country. Ferrell's been very consistent & saying this all year long. Possibly told something in confidence, which he says happens often. I hope he's wrong, but he's been fairly accurate in the past. Around the 4:22 mark http://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/1135/663766.wma
Yep. And same can be said for LSU and Louisiana, especially this year. Vis-a-vis Montrell Connor and others...
Ah, gotcha. In the Advocate article a week or so ago about LSU recruiting, Henson talks about this & says it makes it that much more important to do thorough evaluations sooner and sooner.
I know it is our choice, but I also know we honored it with the last DB that had a broken neck so I would expect we would continue to do the honorable and classy thing. It could still hurt you at least 2 ways. (1)Because you could fill up at a position and turn away great recruits early the recruits you alienated grab offers elsewhere and you are unable to win them back. (2) If a player is hurt it doesn't have to be a career ending injury, but it could be enough to keep him eligible, but hamper him for quite some time. While he may be cleared medically to play and count against your scholarship limit he may not be the player he once was, at least for some time, if ever.
I don't know much about Ferrell since I dropped Rivals a few years ago, but weren't a whole lot of people - including most of the LSU coaches until the evening before NSD - wrong about McKnight? That's a rather extreme example to use. Obviously I hope MF is wrong here, but from the things reported about how close JM's family feels to UT, it doesn't give me a good feeling.
